Black Mirror Season 5 Episode Titles, Trailers & Plot Details Revealed

Charlie Brooker’s sci-fi series is almost back and Netflix finally releases the Black Mirror season 5 episode titles, trailers and plot details. It’s been well over a year since the last season of Black Mirror aired back in December 2017, if we’re discounting the divisive interactive feature film Bandersnatch that the franchise released in December 2018.

Netflix released Black Mirror’s season 5 trailer last week and with it came confirmation that the new series will debut on Wednesday June 5 and include just three episodes - that’s half the number of episodes in season 3 and season 4. While that may come as disappointing news to many Black Mirror fans, hopefully the new episode details and trailers should calm any fears that season 5 might sacrifice quality as well as quantity.

With about two weeks left until Black Mirror season 5 premieres, Netflix has released plenty more details, including one-minute teasers for each episode. See the titles, trailers, plot details and casts for all three of the Black Mirror season 5 episodes below.

“Smithereens” stars Sherlock’s Andrew Scott as a cab driver with an agenda who picks up a passenger played by Damson Idris (Snowfall, The Twilight Zone) before their day quickly spirals out of control - which, judging by the trailer, is caused by Scott’s character’s obsession with society’s obsession with their phones. Topher Grace (Spider-Man 3, BlacKkKlansman) will also star.

“Rachel, Jack and Ashley, Too” is about a lonely teenager who longs to meet her favorite pop star whose seemingly charmed existence isn’t as amazing as it first appears. The episode stars Miley Cyrus - unsurprisingly, given it’s her real-life occupation - who will be playing the pop star in question. Cyrus is joined by Australian actress Angourie Rice (The Nice Guys, Spider-Man: Homecoming, Spider-Man: Far From Home) and Sharp Objects’ Madison Davenport.

Finally, there’s “Striking Viper,” which tells the tale of two estranged college friends whose reunion later in life triggers a series of events that could change their lives forever. The episode’s cast includes Anthony Mackie (Avengers: Endgame, Detroit), Yahya Abdul-Mateen II (Aquaman, Us), Nicole Beharie (Sleepy Hollow, Jacob’s Ladder), Pom Klementieff (Avengers: Endgame, Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3) and Ludi Lin (Power Rangers, Aquaman).

Each of these three Black Mirror episodes are brand new, which unfortunately means no sequels to episodes from past Black Mirror seasons like some fans have called for. However, the new episodes do boast the same kind of talented casts and intriguing plots we’ve come to expect from Black Mirror, which should not disappoint. Although judging by the plot details released, it’s hard to see where that optimistic tone Brooker promised fans last year comes into it all.
