A demon, coming from the Spade Kingdom, goes all the way to Clover Kingdom just to wreak havoc. Black Clover is a manga written and drawn by Yuuki Tabata. It has been publishing weekly in Weekly Shonen Jump since February of 2015. The English version is available at and is published weekly by Viz Media. In a world wherein magic is commonplace, Asta, the protagonist, is unable to make any use of it. Despite that, he aims to become the Wizard King. During the Grimoire Acceptance Ceremony wherein everybody at the right age gets their own grimoire, a book containing the wizards' spells, Asta stumbles upon a five-leaf-clover grimoire. Yuno, Asta's childhood friend and rival, is famed for getting a rare four-leaf-clover grimoire.
Since Asta is not able to use any magic, his grimoire doesn't allow him to cast spells either. Instead, his grimoire contains a set of swords that allows him to nullify and deflect magic, as well as a devil called Liebe, who allows him to wield Anti-Magic. In exchange for such power, Asta's right arm becomes corrupted. But as the story progresses, Asta becomes able to channel Liebe's magic, which results in him being able to cover his entire body in black energy without being corrupted or losing his sanity. This power is still further enhanced after the Witch Queen removes the limit of Asta's Anti-Magic, which allowed him to create his Black Asta form.
After the fight with Elf Tribe, the Clover Kingdom faces yet another strong opponent. The Spade Kingdom has successfully summoned a demon and made it march toward Clover Kingdom. Before its tremendous magic power, literally, every magic knight remaining in Clover Kingdom has to give a hand. Since the main force, which consists mostly of the kingdom's strongest magic knights, are fighting the Dark Triad, Clover Kingdom's defenses are a bit thin. Still, it doesn't mean they have no strong magic knights. Julius Novachrono, the current Wizard King, uses his Time Magic to age himself ten years. There is also Damnatio's Kira, the wielder of Scale Magic, as well as the other magic knights from the other squads. But in a world where magic reigns supreme, even their combined magic is no match against the demons. Now, the only way to stop it is to match its magic with equally strong magic or with Asta's Anti-Magic. However, that is still the tip of the iceberg. The Dark Triad has successfully unleashed Naamah and Lilith, devils of the highest order, and they are yet to show their full strength.
With the fight against Licht, who turns himself into a humongous demon, the Clover Kingdom literally has to be saved by their ancestor. With Spade Kingdom wielding not just the power of one, but multiple devils, Clover Kingdom's future isn't looking so bright. However, Clover Kingdom has a special weapon against magic. Even this newly introduced demon seems like a hype material for Asta's new form. Perhaps Asta will be able to defeat this demon with ease in the next installation of Black Clover.
