Marvel's The Falcon & The Winter Soldier TV series is setting up another Young Avenger. Back in May 2018, there were intriguing reports Marvel Studios was planning what Disney CEO Bob Iger called "a new franchise beyond Avengers." There's growing evidence that this project seems to be the Young Avengers, who are quite clearly being set up by the various Disney+ TV shows.

Kate Bishop, one of the most prominent Young Avengers, is set to make her MCU debut in Hawkeye; Marvel hope to get a rising star like Hailee Steinfeld to play the part. WandaVision looks set to introduce Scarlet Witch and Vision's twin children, Wiccan and Speed, and will also reportedly feature Wiccan's shapeshifting boyfriend Hulkling; and, of course, Marvel could switch up the roster by including Ms. Marvel. Meanwhile, Avengers: Endgame set up Cassie Lang's transformation into the Young Avenger Stature, and there are reports Doctor Strange 2 will introduce America Chavez as well.

The latest reports suggest The Falcon & The Winter Soldier series will also help set up the Young Avengers. The show is expected to reveal the secret history of the super-soldier program, introducing Isaiah Bradley, the first black Captain America. In the comics, Bradley was a conscientious objector who was forced to leave his family and join the army for the Second World War. Bradley became one of 300 subjects to undergo super-soldier experiments, and he was one of the few to survive. Unfortunately, he was imprisoned for treason because he had dared to wear the outfit of Captain America on one mission. Bradley served 17 years in solitary confinement, and his mind was broken. But his family remained important in the comics — because his grandson ultimately became a superhero too.

Young Avengers Patriot from Marvel Comics

Elijah (Eli) Bradley was an ordinary human who was determined to live up to his grandfather's legacy. He lied and pretended he was a super-soldier as a result of a blood transfusion, and then began taking an illegal drug called Mutant Growth Hormone to simulate those abilities. Eli donned a costume inspired by Bucky Barnes' uniform during the Second World War, and acted as leader of the newly formed Young Avengers.

There's been no indication Eli Bradley will actually appear in The Falcon & The Winter Soldier. Rather, it looks far more likely the series will simply set him up, introducing Isaiah Bradley and perhaps mentioning his family — just as happened in the Truth: Red, White, and Black miniseries in the comics. But the setup is there just the same, preparing the way for another Young Avengers' debut.
