With the highly anticipated DCEU film Black Adam (2022) coming out next year, many fans are wondering how DC will choose to portray Black Adam, with him often being shown in comics as a misunderstood anti-hero, and sometimes portrayed as an outright monstrous villain. In one of Teth-Adam's more horrific storylines, World War III, Black Adam rages against the entire world, killing thousands of people, and eventually being stopped by the combined forces of every superhero in the world. Perhaps the darkest, and most tragic death that happens is Black Adam's murder of the infamous Teen Titan, Terra.

Teth-Adam, ruler of the nation of Khandaq, is a long-time arch-nemesis of the hero Shazam, having gained his powers from the same wizard who granted Captain Marvel his magic, and is considered to be one of the more powerful beings in existence. Black Adam worked alone for a long time, ruling as the tyrannical but protective King of Khandaq, until he freed a slave named Adrianna Tomaz and married her. Adrianna become Queen of Khandaq and gained powers through a necklace, becoming known as Isis, while her brother became Osiris, making the Black Marvel Family complete. When Isis and Osiris are killed by the Four Horsemen of Death, Teth-Adam is driven mad, and starts a brutal killing spree that ends only after thousands and thousands are dead.

Black Adam's first act as a grieving and furious King is to slaughter the entire population of the country of Bialya, for what seems to be no reason at all. Adam then proceeds to destroy Pisa, Italy, knocking down the Leaning Tower of Pisa in his attack, and also devastates Sydney, Australia, all while almost every single superhero team on Earth is attempting to stop him. These teams that are fighting back against his destruction include the Teen Titans, with Raven, Beast Boy, Hawk, Dove, and Terra trying to put an end to his brutality. Terra, who has just recently been resurrected during Blackest Night, is a complex teenage superhero with a shady past, but who at the time had been operating as a kind and caring hero.

Black Adam in World War III killing the Titan Terra.

Terra, who has the power to control rock, decides to "bring the war to him," and attack Black Adam directly, successfully smashing Teth-Adam in between two massive boulders. Unfortunately, this does very little to actually stop or slow Adam down, with him having a singularly focused mind to destroy everyone in his path. Black Adam then does the unthinkable, and punches Terra's heart out through her chest, immediately killing her. This murder is made even more twisted with the realization that Adam's brother-in-law Osiris, whose death started World War III, was in fact briefly a member of the Teen Titans.

Black Adam was eventually defeated by the combined efforts of the world's heroes, with Shazam finally striking him with a magic lightning bolt, reverting him back to his human form Teth-Adam. Terra's death, as an innocent young hero, shook the entire Teen Titans team, and continued to have a profound impact on Raven and Beast Boy for years to come. While Black Adam is now a member of the Justice League, for many years he was viewed solely as a vicious supervillain, and that was never clearer than during the events of "World War III."
