Spinoffs to the upcoming Black Adam could be announced soon, says a producer on the upcoming DCEU film. Dwayne Johnson has been attached to play the role of Black Adam since 2007, and in 2022, after fifteen years, he will finally see the big screen in his own live-action film. The first footage of the film was teased in October at DC FanDome, and the film has a July 2022 release date set.

Black Adam takes place within the larger DCEU, as the character was referenced in 2019's Shazam!. The film is also introducing a variety of comic book favorites into the world including Hawkman (Aldis Hodge), Doctor Fate (Pierce Brosnan), Atom Smasher (Noah Centineo), Cyclone (Quintessa Swindell), and Isis (Sarah Shahi). With the Justice Society of America set to make their feature film debut in Black Adam, the potential for it to not just be a singular movie but for a larger franchise, appears to be strong.

In an interview with Collider, Black Adam producer Hiram Garcia said that Black Adam spinoff movies were in development. Garcia confirmed they are talking to many factions at Warner Bros. and DC about what stories they want to tell and how to bring those to life. Plans seem to be brewing, and Garcia teased announcements will be made soon on certain characters and is excited to share details moving forward. Read Garcia's full quote below:

"I think when it comes to the DC Universe — this is the great thing about being at Warner and DC — is you have gigantic conversations with all the tentacles there of being able to generate content and tell these stories. So we have met with everyone from every corner of DC Universe about how we can bring certain characters to life, how we can continue and build out the worlds on some of these characters, and it's just about finding the right home for it. But nothing is left off the table when you're dealing with characters of this nature and scale and in terms of how we can best deliver more content to the fans. So that continues to go, and you're going to start to hear announcements regarding some of these characters and who we're going to finally be able to tell a little bit more on going forward."

While 2022 will be a busy year for DC Comics adaptations at the movies with five scheduled to be released, only Shazam! Fury of the Gods is set for 2023. Warner Bros. currently has Zatanna, Blue Beetle, Hourman, and Static all in development, but it appears that more films could be announced soon, possibly a solo movie for Doctor Fate or Hawkman or even a JSA movie now. Warner Bros. was developing a Hawkman movie in 2010, but nothing ever came of it, so the project could potentially be revived as a Black Adam spin-off with Aldis Hodge reprising his role.

One possible announcement that could be made is a crossover film between Shazam and Black Adam that could serve as the third film in a Shazam! trilogy as well as a sequel for Black Adam. If announced soon, they could begin filming within a year and have the movie set for release a year after Shazam! Fury of the Gods to make sure the kid actors who play Billy Batson and his foster family are still age-appropriate. If released in 2024, the DCEU could form a mini-event trilogy over the span of three years in a manner similar to the MCU.
