Dwayne Johnson's Black Adam movie gets a new poster featuring the DCEU anti-hero and the Justice Society of America. Following years of being stuck in development hell, Johnson is finally joining the DCEU. After being cast in the title role almost a decade ago, Johnson is now finally bringing Black Adam to the big screen for the first time. While Black Adam was going to debut in Shazam! originally, plans got retooled in order to allow the DC icon to get his own solo film to have his origin story told. For his DCEU introduction, Johnson's Black Adam is being re-imagined as a grim anti-hero who goes from being a Khandaq slave to a superpowered god. For quite some time now, the actor has often teased that the character's introduction will forever change the hierarchy of power in the DC Universe. After years of working on making the film a reality, Black Adam is only a month away from finally hitting theaters. While the movie will focus on Black Adam, the story will also see him clash with the Justice Society of America.RELATED: Black Adam's Antihero Tease Ignores The DCEU's Wasted PastWith Black Adam's marketing entering the home stretch before the film's release, Johnson and Warner Bros. Pictures have debuted a brand-new poster for the film. The poster sees Johnson's titular character alongside the Justice Society members Doctor Fate (Pierce Brosnan,) Hawkman (Aldis Hodge,) Cyclone (Quintessa Swindell,) and Atom Smasher (Noah Centineo.) Each character has also gotten their own individual portraits, giving a closer look at their costumes. The official posters come only a day before the release of the final Black Adam trailer, which will debut during the Thursday night NFL game.

While the wait for Black Adam has been an extended one, Warner Bros. is hyping this up to be a massive game-changer for the DCEU's future. For years, Johnson and the creative team have stressed that they are eying this film as the beginning of a new franchise for the DC brand. There are already ideas for Black Adam spin-off projects, although what those potential films or TV shows might be is a mystery for now. The film is also projected to eventually lead to the inevitable showdown between Johnson's Black Adam and Zachary Levi's Shazam, most likely in a third installment unless Shazam! Fury of the Gods sets up the foundation for a conflict.

Even though box office projections have yet to emerge, Johnson's involvement alone is more than likely going to make Black Adam a huge success. It wouldn't be shocking if the studio were to greenlight a sequel before 2022 is over, but only time will tell. While the DCEU has been in a state of flux, especially after the Warner Bros. Discovery merger, Black Adam is looking like it will truly expand the franchise in a refreshing way. Whether it be through the mystery spinoffs, a potential Black Adam sequel, or Johnson sharing the screen with Levi's Shazam, there is a lot to look forward to with this latest DC installment as the wait will soon be over next month.
