The film will see To All The Boys I've Loved Before actor Centineo star as one of the members of the JSA, Atom Smasher, a hero who, alongside superstrength, possesses the power to alter his molecular structure, allowing him to change his size.

As promotion for Black Adam kicks into high gear, Centineo shared a story from the film's set during a recent appearance on The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon. The actor opened up about a particular scene that saw him get cut out of his skin-tight costume after he dislocated his arm while attempting to do a funny take during an action sequence. Centineo then hilariously recalled how, after thirteen attempts to pop his arm back into its socket, his excitement at having fixed his arm led to him dislocating it a second time. Check out Centineo's full quote below.

Full in-garb right, everything’s covered, its 100 degrees outside its Atlanta, you know its humid. The skin is totally covered which looks badass but [it’s not] when you’re doing wind sprints. So we’re running, we did six takes and they’re like ‘shall we do one more?’ and I’m like ‘yeah, why not? I’m game’ you [only] get to do this so many times in your life. So I’m running and I go ‘this time let’s make it funny, let me try and make it funny’ so I’m running off the curb, there’s a parked car, I pretend to hit my knee on the parked car as I’m running and I spin around like ‘argh!’ like ‘that hurt’ and my arm goes up and then dislocates, like fully out-of-socket and I’m like ‘it’ll go back in, hold on, hold on.’ It did not go back in. Now I’m like ‘hold on, stop stop stop.’ Keep in mind the suit is tight, it’s like a glove fit and they’re like ‘what’s wrong?’ and I’m like ‘my arms out of its socket’ so they go down and they’re trying to get it back in and it’s not going back in so they have to cut the suit open. They open it up, they take it down and I’m sitting there like ‘I can’t believe this it’s so funny.’ Thirteen tries later with a foot in my armpit and then a guy pushing from behind, it goes back in finally right and I’m like ‘WOO! YEAH!’ throw my arms in the air like ‘IT WENT BACK IN!’ When my arm goes in the air, it dislocates again. So they were like ‘let’s try it again’ and I was like ‘fire in the hole!’ and they got it on the third time and it went back in and that was that.

How Important Will Atom Smasher Be To Black Adam’s Story?

Noah Centineo as DCEU Atom Smasher

The full extent of Centineo's role as Atom Smasher within the events of Black Adam remains somewhat of a mystery, though given his involvement with the film's promotional run it's expected that Atom Smasher will have a considerable role to play. Since Black Adam will follow the JSA as they attempt to keep this new anti-hero under control, the film's director, Jaume Collet-Serra, recently discussed how Black Adam will see Centineo's character unsure of his place within the JSA, with the actor himself also previously sharing that the film will see Atom Smasher in a "transitional phase." Given this somewhat in-depth backstory for Centineo's hero, and confirmation that Atom Smasher appears in some action-packed scenes, perhaps his introduction to Black Adam's anti-hero ways could have an impact on this brewing internal conflict.

While it's reassuring to know that Centineo has now recovered from his injuries, it's certainly fun to hear about the young actor's on-set antics even though it may have, unfortunately, cost the wardrobe department a suit. While various teasers for Black Adam have shown Atom Smasher's involvement with what looks to be some incredibly exciting action sequences, it remains to be seen just what sort of impact the character will have on Black Adam's overall story. Moving forward, it's fair to assume that Centineo will now take a little more caution when attempting to do a funny take next time around.
