Celebrity trainer, Kirk Myers, posted a series of videos and photos on Instagram documenting Noah Centineo’s physical transformation for his upcoming role in Black Adam. The DCEU film, which is currently in production, is a prequel to the 2019 movie, Shazam! Starring Dwayne Johnson as the titular anti-hero, Black Adam, the story will also introduce the Justice Society of America, which includes Centineo’s character, Atom Smasher.

Centineo has worked in the entertainment industry for years, notably getting his start with a recurring role on the Disney Channel sitcom, Austin & Ally. However, his portrayal of teen heartthrob Peter Kavinsky in the Netflix romantic comedy, To All the Boys I’ve Loved Before, launched him into celebrity superstardom in 2018. The widespread popularity of the movie spurred two sequels, the last of which premiered on Valentine’s Day this year. During this time, Centineo has acquired a passionate fan base, many of whom remain excited about his future debut in the DC universe.

On Instagram, Centineo’s fitness trainer, Myers, shared new posts revealing the actor’s muscular physique. Many of the videos demonstrate Centineo’s commitment to fully embodying the role of a formidable superhero. Check out his transformation below:

In the DCEU, Atom Smasher is a superhero heralded for his super strength and ability to alter his molecular structure, which grants him the capabilities for body growth. In the comics, despite being the grandson of a supervillain named Cyclotron, he joins the Justice Society of America to help fight crime. While Black Adam is reported to start shooting in April, a release date remains unknown due to the ongoing COVID-19 pandemic, which has delayed overall production. Although a solo film, Johnson has confirmed plans for his villainous character to eventually encounter the beloved figures of Shazam! The sequel for the well-received film, titled Shazam! Fury of the Gods, is slated for a release next year.

When it comes to the DCEU, a compelling roster of future installments promises to expand and develop the broader comic book universe. For fans hoping for an epic franchise that rivals the pop culture brawn of Marvel, it appears that these new superhero films may help achieve that goal. While many details have yet to be fully shared, the production of Black Adam seems to indicate the opportunity for an adventurous and entertaining story that introduces characters who have yet to shine under the limelight. In time, a fresh take on the well-worn path of crusaders for justice may magnify the reign of the DCEU.
