Dwayne "The Rock" Johnson has arrived in Atlanta as production for Black Adam kicks off. DC fans know Black Adam as the ultra-powerful ancient Egyptian antihero in the comics. The movie will be set in the contemporary DCEU timeline and will introduce Justice Society of America characters such as Dr. Fate, Atom Smasher, Cyclone, and Hawkman.

Black Adam will serve as Johnson's official entry into the DCEU, even though the wrestler-turned-actor has been attached to the role since 2014. Initially, he was supposed to appear in the 2019 movie Shazam!, but DC execs changed gears and decided to develop a solo film for the character instead. After multiple delays including restrictions surrounding the coronavirus pandemic, Black Adam is finally moving forward. Last month, Johnson announced that the movie has secured a July 29, 2022 premiere date. The actor also confirmed that filming has already commenced.

Early this week, Johnson was spotted arriving in Atlanta to take up his suit as the titular character. A paparazzi snap shared by atlanta_filming on Instagram shows the 48-year-old actor, wearing bright sneakers and a black mask, getting inside a car after landing in Georgia. As movie buffs know, the southern state is a hub for film studios and Johnson's arrival means he will be shooting his scenes any day now. For DC fans, this is an exciting development and a sign that the Black Adam's production is finally at full speed.

For months now, Johnson has been passionately preparing for his highly anticipated role. The former WWE wrestler has been spending hours a day at the gym to get his Black Adam physique ready. Aside from getting a real-life superhero body, Johnson also shared his commitment to the movie when he announced its first day of filming. In an emotional IG post showing the movie's film clapper, the actor said it was an honor to be a part of the project and called it "history in the making."

Despite Johnson's enthusiastic Black Adam teasers, the details of the movie are still ambiguous. So far, fans have seen the concept art of Johnson as the eponymous character and nothing else. Now that the lead actor is confirmed to be on set, fans can expect more updates and paparazzi photos of filming locations. It is also possible that a costume reveal may be happening soon, which will lead to official posters and trailers. While Black Adam's actual release is still more than a year away, there is no doubt that DC fans are getting closer to seeing this much-awaited  film.
