Aldis Hodge is looking ripped as Hawkman in a training photo for the upcoming DCEU movie Black Adam. In development for over a decade, Black Adam is currently scheduled to begin production this month and hit theaters in July of 2022. At that time, the film will be the 11th entry into DC's Extended Universe after James Gunn's The Suicide Squad releases this August. Aldis Hodge, still fresh off his role as Jim Brown in the critical darling One Night In Miami, will play the reincarnated American archaeologist Carter Hall also known as Hawkman.
The film stars Dwayne Johnson as the titular anti-hero Black Adam and will expand DC's universe by introducing numerous heroes who are members of the Justice Society of America. This includes Noah Centineo as Atom Smasher, Quintessa Swindell as Cyclone, Pierce Brosnan as Dr. Fate, and Aldis Hodge as Hawkman. Much of the cast has been documenting their workout progress on social media, including Centineo and most notably Dwayne Johnson whose frequent workout posts have motivated Hodge in his own pursuit to gain muscle.
Now, Hodge is the latest Black Adam star to share his training progress online as he prepares to make his DC debut as Hawkman. The actor posted a black and white photo on Instagram in which he looks particularly ripped, captioned "Making progress everyday. Almost where I need to be." Hodge also shed some light on the dedication and discipline required to portray a superhero on screen, saying "The adjustments to eating, sleeping and training aren’t always easy. And my body is fighting pain and soreness every day." Check out Hodge's muscular Hawkman physique below:
The caption "Almost where I need to be" seems to indicate Hodge is not done training yet for the role, which means filming might not begin this month as soon as some may have expected. Although, Hawkman might not be a part of the early scenes that begin shooting in April. Right now, Black Adam is scheduled for a release in 2022 between Matt Reeves' Batman in March and The Flash solo film in November. However, with the ongoing coronavirus pandemic still posing challenges in production, this release date is far from set in stone.
Before landing the role as Hawkman, Hodge had been trying to be cast as a superhero for 15 years, so it is inspiring to see him finally put in the hard work to prepare for the role, which he says he is "loving" every second of. Hodge had a strong 2020 with The Invisible Man and One Night In Miami, and he will look to top it in 2021 with Black Adam.
