Despite them sharing the same power source, the one hero who has a better form of Black Adam's abilities is surprisingly not Shazam. In 52 #12, the former Champion of the wizard Shazam reveals which DC hero is the most powerful member of the Shazam (née Marvel) Family.

Teth-Adam was once a slave in the nation of Kahndaq until he was chosen by a wizard to be the DC Universe's greatest magical protector. However, the power corrupted the hero known as Mighty Adam, who used his abilities for vengeance rather than justice. Years after Black Adam was banished, the wizard selected Billy Batson to become Shazam, a decision that angered the former Champion. Billy and Teth-Adam have duked it out repeatedly over the years. But because of their similarities, one has never gotten rid of the other, forcing Black Adam and Shazam to forge a coexistence with one another.

Black Adam Made Isis Much More Powerful Than Him Or Shazam

Black Adam Isis True Power DC Comics

But while Shazam and Black Adam seem to be on the same level, the latter was able to help give a hero a boost that made her more powerful than either Champion. In 52 #12 by Geoff Johns, Grant Morrison, Greg Rucka, Mark Waid, Keith Giffen, and Eddy Barrows, a village in Kahndaq is assisted by Black Adam, who provides them with a source of fresh water. Adrianna Tomaz, who suggested the action for Adam, tells him that this is the way he can truly change the world for the better. Black Adam takes Adrianna to the Rock of Eternity where he retrieves an amulet containing the power of the ancient deity Isis. The antihero confirms that if she accepts the amulet, she will be more powerful than a Champion, she will be a goddess.

Fans of the magical heroes may recall that both Shazam and Black Adam get their powers from saying the magic word “SHAZAM!” which is an acronym. Every letter of the word ‘Shazam’ represents a different mythological figure, (Egyptian deities for Black Adam and a mostly Greek pantheon for Billy). However, Adrianna becomes the living embodiment of Isis. While Black Adam and Shazam wield fractions of multiple gods, Isis has the full range of her associated god. This distinction puts her on a level far above the two Champions, and possibly the rest of the DC Universe.

Isis' Strength Is Unparalleled In The DC Universe

While they may be on the same level as one another, Shazam and Black Adam stand above most of the DC Universe’s most powerful heroes, save for Superman. But by wielding the power of a goddess, Isis, goes above and beyond what the two Champions are capable of. Sure, they wield the Living Lightning, but Isis is channeling the raw power of one of Egypt’s most powerful gods. By Teth-Adam’s own admission, Isis eclipses him in power, potentially making Adrianna Tomaz the strongest magic user in the DCU. Shazam may be powerful, but thanks to Black Adam, neither of them can claim the title of strongest as long as Isis is around.
