Dwayne “The Rock” Johnson reacts to the custom paint job of a fan’s Jeep inspired by the upcoming film Black Adam. Johnson has been attached to the role of Warner Bros./DC Films’ Black Adam for nearly a decade. Following a nixed cameo in Shazam! and the abandonment of the Snyder-Verse, his solo film will finally release this year.

As an Egyptian slave who is granted superpowers by the ancient wizard Shazam, Black Adam is one of the most powerful characters in DC lore. In the comics, Black Adam begins with the intention of freeing those enslaved. However, his hunger for power turns him into a tyrant, which leads to him becoming the arch-nemesis of the superhero Shazam. The first Black Adam trailer shows its titular character fighting the Justice Society of America, including Pierce Brosnan's Dr. Fate, Noah Centineo's Atom Smasher, Quintessa Swindell's Cyclone, and Aldis Hodge's Hawkman. That said, Johnson has repeatedly hyped how his anti-hero will redefine “the hierarchy of power in the DC Extended Universe” while promoting the film—and engaging with fans—on social media.

Johnson's gargantuan social media presence has always been instrumental in the marketing of his films. That said, he seems to be even more active regarding Black Adam—from admiring fan art to sharing posts about Black Adam action figures. The former WWE superstar turned A-list actor has made it clear that he has big plans for his first Black Adam outing, which will set the character up for the future. Johnson’s physical and mental commitment to the character stretches well beyond Black Adam as the film is poised to set up the DCEU's next chapter.

Following Justice LeagueThe Suicide Squad, Peacemaker, and The Batman, it appears WB/DC Films is giving its filmmakers more creative freedom than ever before. This implies that director Jaume Collet-Serra (Jungle Cruise) and Johnson have had free reign to do what they please with Black Adam. While reiterating that he’s been listening to the fans, Johnson recently appeared to tease Black Adam may have a Superman cameo. Suffice to say, he’s willing to do whatever it takes for what could be a career-defining movie and one worth purchasing a custom Jeep when it releases in theaters on October 21, 2022.
