Dwayne Johnson thinks Black Adam could defeat the Justice League. The former wrestler is convinced there is no competition between the magical supervillain and DC's flagship superhero team. Black Adam is a DC Comics character, introduced as the arch-enemy to superhero Captain Marvel (popularly known now as Shazam). He was originally depicted as Captain Marvel's predecessor, who habitually challenges the hero and the rest of the Marvel family.

In recent years, Black Adam has been re-defined as an antihero, aligning with both heroes and villains. His power set is very similar to that of Shazam's, with his powers also being based in magic. His power set includes strength, stamina, invulnerability, flight, and control over lightning. Black Adam is often considered one of the most iconic comic book supervillians of all time and is heavily featured in other media besides comic books, including cartoon and video games.

He even thinks Black Adam would be able to defeat the entire Justice League. Johnson made this opinion known during a recent Instagram Live video, saying, "'What chance does the Justice League have against an angry Black Adam?’ What’s that term, no chance in hell." [Laughs] This statement is sure to be controversial among fans, as the DCEU Justice League has some of the most powerful heroes in the comics.

Fans know The Rock had been in talks to play the ancient Egyptian for awhile, but Johnson only recently revealed he has been working on a Black Adam movie with DC since 2008. The character was rumored to appear in 2018's Shazam!, but that didn't end up happening. The Rock has since shared some details about the Black Adam solo film. Johnson explained he gravitated to the more recent depiction of a the character, which saw Black Adam as a former slave who was gifted his abilities, so fans can look forward to the antihero version of the character. He also claimed the movie would act more as an origin story and would also introduce audiences to the Justice Society of America, or JSA.

Black Adam is one of three DC Comics films to be released in 2021. Matt Reeves' The Batman and James Gunn's The Suicide Squad are both scheduled to premiere next summer. However, due to the impact the coronavirus pandemic has had on Hollywood, production for these films might be delayed and as a result their release dates might be pushed. This might prove detrimental to the future of the DCEU, as the momentum the franchise gained due to the success of Wonder Woman, Aquaman and Shazam! might be lost if these movies are delayed. Only time will tell how much impact this pandemic will have on Warner Bros. beloved franchise.
