Black Adam star Dwayne ‘The Rock’ Johnson has shared an impressive training photo as he continues preparing for the role of Shazam’s arch-nemesis. Johnson has been associated with the Black Adam project for over a decade, and 2020 looked to be the year the film would finally begin production. Johnson shared images of himself earlier this year, training for the then scheduled summer production of his DCEU film. However, the coronavirus pandemic not only delayed Black Adam's shooting until spring of next year, but Warner Bros. removed the film from its December 2021 release date and have yet to announce a new date.

Although Black Adam has experienced more setbacks this year, the project is still well and truly moving forward. Fans got their first look at Johnson’s Black Adam thanks to a small trailer with concept art for the film shown at DC FanDome. Also, the video highlighted his origin story in Kahndaq and how Black Adam was born by fighting against the Kahndaq slave owners. Furthermore, the film will be set 5,000 years after these events, and the Justice Society of America will join the anti-hero, as Noah Centineo has been cast as Atom Smasher and Aldis Hodge as Hawkman. So as preparation and anticipation continue to build for Black Adam’s spring production, in typical Johnson fashion, the star has shown he is zeroed in on his big DC debut as well.

In a new Instagram post, Johnson shared, as he often does, an impressive photo of himself during a gym session. However, this post and workout was dedicated to his upcoming production of Black Adam, as the former WWE champion is wearing a dark Black Adam top with the film’s official logo. Along with the post, the star also wrote “Phase 2. Training for BLACK ADAM,” before repeating his popular phrase of “The hierarchy of power in the DC UNIVERSE is about to change." He also thanked his "long time strength and conditioning coach" for helping him prepare for this "film and character." Check out Johnson's full post, below:

Interestingly, Johnson wrote “Phase 2” in his post, which could be in reference to the fact that this is now the second time he has likely increased his training regiment specifically for Black Adam. He also mentions in the post while thanking his strength and conditioning coach, the “roadmap” for the film has been “ever evolving.” Johnson’s t-shirt nicely shows the official logo, highlighting one of the many new details we’ve learned about the film over the past few months. The actor also previously teased that Sarah Shahi, who is reportedly cast as a non-comic character, could be the film’s villain. Meaning his hulking physique could very well be to combat Shahi and her possible allies in the film.

Johnson's post is a nice way to keep fan interested in Black Adam, using social media to promote his many upcoming projects. Back in September, Johnson posted an image of his front gate that had been ripped off by him, teasing that he’s ready to play the magical anti-hero. More recently, he finished filming for his Netflix film Red Notice, and production for the sitcom based on his early years, Young Rock, got underway last month in Australia. Meaning soon, Hollywood’s highest paid actor will focus solely on his long-awaited DCEU project, and judging by this latest training photo, Johnson is clearly getting into Black Adam mode.
