A new leak has seemingly revealed a host of new and upcoming games, including BioShock 4, which appears to be targeting a 2022 release date. The next BioShock game has been confirmed to be in development at Cloud Chamber, though official details on the game are sparse. Not much is known about the new BioShock game, with plot, characters, and even an official title yet to be revealed.

The next addition to the BioShock franchise is the first in the series to be developed by Cloud Chamber. Thanks to a series of job listings, fans have learned that the game is being made with Unreal Engine 5, and will feature an open-world setting. With the locations and characters yet to be revealed, it's not clear if BioShock 4 will be a direct sequel to any of the previous games, or if it will be a brand-new adventure. Many are hoping to return to the underwater world of Rapture with new-gen technology, but it's possible BioShock 4 could take place in an all-new location, similar to BioShock Infinite, something that has been teased in previous job listings.

Players might not have long to wait to find out more on BioShock 4, with 2022 looking possible for the game's release. A recent Nvidia GeForce Now service leak has named a number of upcoming and unconfirmed games, including multiple references to "BioShock 2022" (via ComicBook). This is the first time that a potential new BioShock has been named alongside a date, and while the 2022 window could be a mere placeholder, it has caused speculation that the game's official reveal could be imminent. References to "Bioshock RTX Remaster" have also been found within the leaked data, which could also suggest the original, or all the games, could be getting improvements.

Whether or not BioShock 4 could be ready in time for a 2022 release remains unclear. Aside from information gleaned from Cloud Chamber's many job listings over the last few months, BioShock 4 news has been quiet. While it's possible the game could be nearing a completed state, numerous still-live job listings could suggest otherwise, with many roles perhaps implying the game is still far from completion.

While no other BioShock games are currently known to be in development, it's also possible that "BioShock 2022" refers to a project entirely different to BioShock 4. "BioShock 2022" could be a remastered collection or upgrade for new-gen systems, or even a remake of one or all of the games. With 2022 fast approaching, BioShock fans hopefully won't have long to wait to find out more about BioShock 4, and the true nature of "BioShock 2022."
