The Six Million Dollar Man was one of the most popular TV shows in the 1970s. It was part science-fiction, part superhero, part love story, and everything in between. When Lindsay Wagner guest-starred as Jaime Sommers, Steve Austin's high school sweetheart, fans quickly grew to love her. After she was supposedly killed off after her body rejected her new bionics, fans were upset and made the studio realize what a hit character they had on their hands.
After appearing in a few more episodes of The Six Million Dollar Man, this beloved character got her own show while continuing to crossover with The Six Million Dollar Man from time to time. Her show was just as popular as the show that started it all, and fans watched week after week, waiting for Steve and Jaime to resume their romance.
Motorcycle Boogie (Season 3, Episode 7) - 8.1
Guest star Evel Knievel plays himself in this fun action-packed adventure. Jaime ends up in West Germany in order to recover a stolen computer tape. She bumps into Evel Knievel, and he joins in on her mission.
This episode is one of the more comedic ones in the series, and the jokes surrounding Jaime not believing that her new companion really is Evel Knievel plays well throughout the whole episode, making this episode a memorable one.
Mirror Image (Season 1, Episode 13) - 8.1
A surgeon transforms a woman named Lisa Galloway into Jaime's identical double, except for her bionics. Galloway's mission involves photographing top-secret documents and killing Oscar Goldman if necessary.
This episode is a lot of fun, and Lindsay Wagner does a fantastic job playing her iconic character, as well as her own villain. The confusion of trying to figure out which Jaime is the real one is a trope used in other episodes, as well, and it definitely works for this episode.
The Bionic Dog: Part 1 (Season 3, Episode 1) - 8.1
In this season premiere, Jaime discovers that a German shepherd, Maxamillion, is a bionic prototype. When the dog starts acting depressed and refuses to listen to the scientists, Dr. Rudy Wells plans on putting the dog down. It is up to Jaime to prove to him that Max still has the will to live.
This episode introduces Max to the show, and he quickly became a fan favorite. The dog is fantastic in the episode, and one cannot help but root for Jaime as she tries her best to save his life.
Deadly Ringer: Part 1 (Season 2, Episode 15) - 8.3
Jaime is knocked out and wakes up at the state penitentiary. Someone replaced her and Lisa Galloway, the villain with plastic surgery to look like her in the previous season, so now Lisa is roaming free and living Jaime's life. Lisa and her boss believe Jaime's strength comes from a substance called Adrenalizine, and Lisa uses it so people believe she also has Jaime's abilities. Her mission is to steal more of it.
This is a very powerful episode, and this two-parter is the reason why Lindsay Wagner earned her Emmy award for Best Lead Actress in a Drama Series. After seeing this episode, viewers can see why she was worthy of the award.
The Return Of Bigfoot: Part 2 (Season 2, Episode 1) - 8.3
In the season two premiere, which picks up after the last episode of The Six Million Dollar Man, Jaime must work with alien travelers that Steve came in contact with in order to save his life. She has to find their wonder drug called Neotraxin, but the traitor alien and his group are using Bigfoot in order to get in her way.
After some great Bigfoot episodes of The Six Million Dollar Man, it is fun to see Jaime battle the creature as well. This episode completes the story very nicely, and it is always great to see Steve and Jaime interact with one another.
Kill Oscar: Part 3 (Season 2, Episode 6) - 8.4
In the third and final installment of this crossover trilogy with The Six Million Dollar Man, Steve and Jaime set out to invade the evil doctor's lair in order to rescue Oscar and his secretary, Peggy Callahan. As always, the Fembots get in the way, along with a machine that can control the weather. Steve and Jaime must work together now more than ever to save their friends and the world.
This trilogy is very well done, and this final episode is filled with fantastic action sequences featuring both Jaime and Steve. It is definitely a highlight of this series.
Doomsday Is Tomorrow: Part 1 (Season 2, Episode 13) - 8.5
A scientist is sick of the lack of peace and harmony on Earth and decides to do something about it. He creates a doomsday device that will go off the second a nuclear bomb explodes anywhere on Earth. Oscar Goldman tasks Jaime to find this device and stop the scientist before the world is potentially destroyed.
This is one of the few two-part episodes that does not involve Steve Austin, and Jaime Sommers does a terrific job carrying these episodes on her own. The stakes are high, and this episode is bound to put viewers on the edge of their seats.
Deadly Ringer: Part 2 (Season 2, Episode 16) - 8.6
In part two of this fantastic two-part episode, Lisa loves Jaime's life and does not want to give it up. The Adrenalizine she has been taking to access Jaime's strength turns out to be poisonous, but she tries to hide it from Jaime's friends. Also, the real Jaime Sommers escapes from the prison, but she's on the run, as no one believes her when she says she was switched with Lisa Galloway.
This is an exciting conclusion to the Lisa Galloway storyline that started in the first season, and one cannot help but feel sorry for her as she desperately wants the love and happiness that the real Jaime Sommers garners.
Kill Oscar: Part 1 (Season 2, Episode 5) - 8.7
In part one of this exciting three-part story, an evil scientist unleashes a plan to kidnap Oscar Goldman, and this includes replacing some of OSI's employees with Fembots. Jaime realizes something is going on, but, before she could really do anything about it, she is attacked by the Fembots and almost dies, leading Steve Austin to continue searching for the truth.
This episode is an epic way to begin a fantastic story with some of the best villains of the series.
Doomsday Is Tomorrow: Part 2 (Season 2, Episode 14) - 8.7
After the doomsday device is triggered, Jaime must go through all the defenses designed by the scientist before it is too late. She must outwit a sentient computer in order to keep the world safe.
This is a memorable episode replete with some great action sequences. Most of the episode is just between Jaime and the voice of the computer. The obstacles she goes through are tough, unique, and fun to watch. This is definitely a highlight of the whole series and one all fans of the show should watch.
