Jullian Hillard recently shared his thoughts on Billy Maximoff's future within the MCU. The actor was first introduced in WandaVision, a limited series that focused on Wanda Maximoff (Elizabeth Olsen) dealing with her pain following the loss of Vision (Paul Bettany). Through her anguish, Wanda inadvertently used her powers to take over a small town, controlling the lives of the people around her and shaping her environment to resemble to that of a series of sitcoms. During the course of the show, she manifested her twin sons, Billy (Hillard) and Tommy (Jett Klyne). However, at the end of the season, she had to let her sons go as she deactivated the magic field around the town, wiping away everything she created, including her two young boys.

Billy and Tommy had a brief appearance in the MCU's most recent film Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness, solely existing in the Earth-838 alternate universe. There, the two were flesh and blood and lived a relatively peaceful life with their mother. However, since their existence is in a separate reality, this has left many wondering if the two will ever reappear in the main MCU universe.

In a recent interview with The Direct, Hillard addressed his character's possible future within the MCU. Following the events of Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness, with Wanda seemingly dying in her throne room atop Mount Wundagore, it would appear that Billy's chance for returning the to MCU to be rather slim. However, Hillard pointed out that Wanda's death is not explicitly depicted on screen, adding, "I’ll leave that up to Kevin Feige. In Feige we trust (laughs). And you know, it’s like in horror films, if you don’t see the characters die or disappear on screen, how can you be 100% sure they did?" The actor then referenced the fact that the MCU was patient with Wanda and her journey to the Scarlet Witch title, alluding to the possibility that Billy may eventually assume the role of Wiccan, his superhero alter ego within Marvel Comics. Read what Hillard had to say about a possible future appearance as the hero below.

"Well, look what they did with Wanda’s character, it took years before she was officially The Scarlet Witch and that was such an amazing payoff. So, I guess we’ll just have to wait and see!"

Wanda and Billy in WandaVision Episode 9

Hillard rightfully understands that a character's demise in the MCU, especially if not given a moment of real gravitas like Black Widow (Scarlett Johansson) or Iron Man's (Robert Downey Jr.) deaths, does not guarantee that they will not be seen again. Loki, Coulson, and Vision all returned after their deaths in various ways. Hillard recognizes that the main deciding factor regarding the permanence of a character's death or resurrection in the massive shared universe lies with Marvel President Kevin Feige. With his approval, anything within the MCU is possible.

WandaVision briefly gave audiences a glimpse at a possible future for Billy and Tommy in their roles as the superheroes Wiccan and Speed respectively. Within Marvel Comics, the two were members of a superhero team of adolescent characters called the Young Avengers. The group also partly consisted of America Chavez (Xochitl Gomez), Cassie Lang (Emma Fuhrmann), Kate Bishop (Hailee Steinfeld), and Elijah Bradley (Elijah Richardson). With a large part of the team already introduced within the MCU, Feige has created an opening for both Billy and Tommy's possible return.
