Since portraying Winter Anderson on the show's seventh season, Lourd has also become a mainstay on Murphy's flagship show American Horror StoryShe has played many unique and exciting characters while working with Murphy on these projects.

Linda Kasabian (American Horror Story: Cult)

Linda in Ahs Cult

In her first season of American Horror Story, Lourd actually portrayed two different characters. In a special episode focusing on Cult leaders from history, she played a key member of the Manson family, Linda Kasabian.

Kasabian stands watch as the other Cult members partake in the Manson family murders. However, she later betrays the Cult and turns them into the police. This segment provides a parallel between Linda's betrayal of the Cult and Kai's mistrust of Lourd's character, Winter in the main segment of the season and serves to explain his delusions about her. While Lourd does well with the role, it is brief and the character only features in a few scenes.

Lark Feldman (American Horror Story: Double Feature)

Lourd had a brief yet fun role in the latest season of American Horror Story as tattoo artist, Lark. She spends her time sharpening the teeth of the 'creatives' in Provincetown which aids them in feeding their bloodlust.

Lark is a user of the 'black pill' and is integral in Harry and Belle's transformations. During a flashback scene with Belle, she nonchalantly recalls killing her boyfriend which shows there is a dark side to the character. Lark is only in a few scenes during the season so not much is really known about her but she is still a fun addition to the story.

Liv Whitley (American Horror Stories: BA'AL)

Lourd also appeared in AHS spin-off, American Horror Stories as Liv Whitley. This installment is one of the scariest episodes from American Horror Stories due to the creature design of the terrifying demon, Ba'al.

When Liv struggles to conceive a baby she decides to make a deal with a fertility demon, unaware she is being conned by her partner and his friends. In a twist of fate though, she manages to summon the real demon who helps her to exact her revenge on the group. Despite being a one-episode story, Lourd puts in a stellar performance as the character and really makes the audience route for her.

Chanel #3 (Scream Queens)

Chanel #3, #1, and #5

Lourd's first time working with Murphy was on his comedy-horror series, Scream Queens. Chanel #3 clearly inspired many of the actress' later characters from American Horror Story as she is very dry and sarcastic, much like Winter Anderson.

Murphy's Screams Queens features many great outfits including Chanel #3's earmuffs. The earmuffs are a tribute to Princess Leia, played by Lourd's mother Carrie Fisher in the Star Wars franchise. Although a lot of the sarcasm from Chanel #3 is a staple for Lourd's characters, she is a much more comedic character than fans will be used to seeing the actress play.

Winter Anderson (American Horror Story: Cult)

Winter in AHS: Cult

Murphy's first AHS role for Lourd was Winter Anderson who went on quite a journey in Cult. Winter is the sister of Cult leader, Kai and also has an affair with Ivy Mayfair-Richards.

Due to their toxic relationship and his strange hold over her, Winter also ends up joining Kai's cult. Eventually, Kai brutally kills his sister in one of the most tragic scenes from the season. Winter possesses many of the sarcastic qualities Lourd brings to several of her characters; but, her complicated relationship with Kai and her complex morals make her one of the actress' most interesting characters.

Mallory (American Horror Story: Apocalypse)

Mallory in American Horror Story

Mallory was one of the most important characters in season 8 of American Horror Story. The season features some of the best character crossovers from American Horror Story including the Coven Witches. Mallory becomes part of the witches and is destined to become the next supreme and the antichrist's downfall.

In a divisive decision for the show, Mallory takes out Michael by going back in time and running him over before he ever comes to his full power. Although not much about Mallory's history is known, she is still a key player in the season. She is far less confident than the other characters Lourd has played on the show and it is interesting to see the actress taking on something different.

Montana Duke (American Horror Story: 1984)

Montana in AHS 1984 smiles

Montana is one of the best characters in American Horror Story: 1984 due to the juxtaposition of her fun-loving nature and her lust for revenge. Montana goes out of her way to befriend Brooke but in reality, has promised her to Richard Ramirez as she blames her for her brother's murder.

The character has several unusual romances that are particularly fun to watch during the course of the season including with Ramirez. Like many characters from the franchise before her, Montana discovers a newfound love of killing after becoming trapped as a ghost. The character is one of the most complex that Murphy has given her and also one of the funniest. Montana's one-liners during 1984 are particularly memorable and Lourd's comedic timing is on point.
