Bill & Ted Face the Music writer revealed that Keanu Reeves hosted a John Wick viewing party for the Bill & Ted 3 crew. Keanu Reeves shot to Hollywood stardom, in large part thanks to his sci-fi franchises, Bill & Ted, and The Matrix trilogy. However, Reeves’ career resurgence is down to the unexpected 2014 hit John Wick, which saw Reeves play a retired hitman out for revenge. The excellently choreographed action scenes and the intriguing world surrounding Wick has led to a part 2 and 3, and with the franchise as hot as ever, John Wick 4 will hit theaters in May of 2022.

In 2020, however, Reeves will be returning to one of his older franchises, Bill & Ted, over thirty years after the original hit theaters in 1989. In Bill & Ted Face the Music, the now middle-aged Bill and Ted, with the help of their two daughters, will have to once again travel through time, but this time to find the perfect song to save the world. The third Bill & Ted has been in the works since 2010, and after a few recent changes in its release date, fans received the good news that they will finally get to see the third installment when the film releases on September 1 in both theaters and VOD. But despite returning to his old franchise, Reeves never seems to be too distant from John Wick, as the Bill & Ted team got a special party courtesy of Mr. Wick.

During the Bill & Ted Face the Music Comic-Con@Home panel, hosted by Kevin Smith, which featured the cast, writers, and the director, Smith asked about the cast and crew’s favorite moment working on the film. In the video uploaded by Comic-Con International's YouTube channel, the long time Bill & Ted writer, Ed Solomon, revealed one of his favorite moments came off the sets, and it was when Reeves played host to the entire cast and crew and arranged a viewing party of John Wick:

“I think my favorite moment, my most salient moment, was on a day where we were shut down because of the potential hurricane. We were all stuck up in a town called Covington, and Alex and Keanu both, in different ways, like hosted the whole cast and the whole crew. We actually went to it was like a 1 o'clock performance of John Wick. The whole crew and cast were stuck there, and Keanu actually hosted this production of John Wick that we all watched. And then Alex hosted a lunch afterwards.”

In addition to being a great story highlighting the comradery between the cast and crew, and another example of Reeves’ kind nature, it is also a fantastic coming together of two parts of the actor’s long career. Of course, for many, the latest story of Bill and Ted is a deep dive into nostalgia, and for the newer generation, as Samara Weaving, who plays Bill’s daughter, touches on during the panel, it’s watching the stone-cold John Wick become a laid back, and bizarre “dude.” However, if either Weaving or Brigette Lundy-Paine ends up in a John Wick film, they will have certainly seen at least one  John Wick film beforehand, unlike their experience with never having seen a Bill & Ted film before be cast in the threequel.

It will certainly be interesting to see how Reeves’ experiment of diving back into old franchises will go, as he also has The Matrix 4 coming in April 2022. Face the Music looks to have all the ingredients that made the originals so much fun, and fans will have the benefit of watching both at theaters and on-demand come September 1. Hopefully, similar to Solomon’s story, Bill & Ted Face the Music will unite with John Wick by continuing Reeves’ successful run.
