Bull Pullman reprises his role as Independence Day’s President Thomas J. Whitmore for Anheuser-Busch’s July 4th ad. Pullman is known for appearing in films like SpaceballsA League of Their Own, and more recently, The Equalizer franchise, and Independence Day: Resurgence. Thanks in large part to arguably one of the most iconic speeches in blockbuster history, Pullman’s most memorable role came in 1996’s Independence Day, which sees him play the President of the United States.

Roland Emmerich’s sci-fi extravaganza, Independence Day, is one of the most popular alien invasion movies of all time; releasing in 1996 as the ideal summer blockbuster which sent its cast to superstardom, especially Will Smith and Jeff Goldblum. Of all the film’s memorable moments, President Whitmore’s speech to rally his troops and save their planet, uttering lines like “We're fighting for our right to live, to exist,” stands above the rest. Now, Pullman and Anheuser-Busch have recreated Whitmore’s famous Independence Day speech in honor of the coming holiday.

Budweiser has released a digital film entitled “Go Fourth, America” featuring Pullman as Whitmore in honor of the company’s national campaign with the White House announced earlier this month. Anheuser-Busch’s 4th of July campaign includes a beer giveaway in recognition of how far we’ve come in the fight against COVID-19. Piggybacking off of this, Whitmore’s new presidential address urges Americans to celebrate their independence not from alien invaders but from separation while being cooped up. Check it out below:

Anheuser-Busch made a promise earlier this month to give Americans free beer if the White House hit its goal of having 70% of all adults vaccinated by July 4th. Despite falling short of that goal, the company is still embracing its free beer promotion alongside the White House’s encouragement to be back together this holiday. Beginning Friday and going through Monday, adults 21 and older can go to MyCooler.com/beer, upload a picture of themselves drinking a beer at their favorite spot, and they will receive a digital gift card via email worth the average retail price of an Anheuser-Busch product. "Go Fourth, America” ends with the announcement of Anheuser-Busch’s partnership with Direct Relief aimed at supporting awareness and education around vaccines.

Pullman’s “Go Fourth, America” speech sees him wear the same jacket he did in Independence Day. The video also includes a glimpse of Area 51 in the video and the RV of Captain Steven Hiller, the man who ultimately saves the day in the film’s climactic battle with the extraterrestrials. If seeing President Thomas J. Whitmore's nostalgic and often humorous speech broadcast live across the country as Americans celebrate their Independence Day is anything, it’s a reminder that we love good beer, good times, and good cinema.
