Roblox has come a long way in its fifteen years of existence, becoming one of the most well-known online games. It has expanded its horizons far and wide, growing in opportunities and community while remaining completely free to play.

In Roblox's growth, its players have seen some major changes and updates happen on the platform over time. Some features veteran players once knew slowly disappeared, while new developments and alterations have taken their place. Perhaps their constant evolutions are why it remains an exciting experience for new and old players alike.

No More Tickets

Roblox began with an alternate currency to Robux called Tickets or Tix. They allowed players who didn't have a premium membership or pay for Robux to have a currency they could buy items with until they were removed altogether.

Players accumulated tickets every day as they logged in and used them to buy certain objects in the shop or trade them in for Robux. Although it took a lot of tickets to transfer to the amount of Robux needed, it was a great option for those who couldn't or didn't want to pay for premium benefits. Since tickets were removed from Roblox, players must pay for Robux, making purchasing things from the shop more difficult.

Community Creations

Players were allowed to submit custom clothing designs in the past, but now Roblox has expanded those horizons further, allowing players to submit and sell tons of the best custom-made hair, accessories, and more.

Robloxian creators and artists are pleased with Roblox's community creations options now. They can truly let their creativity run wild, designing objects to sell to others or for their own character customization wants. Players can make their own unique clothing and accessory lines and set prices for them, allowing them to make decent Robux off their creations sold in the shop.

DevEx Feature

DevEx is a newer feature on Roblox that allows players to transfer their Robux into actual US dollars. Now more than ever, Roblox is much more than just a game, it's a community where players can actually make a career for themselves.

Players on Roblox can sell their custom creations, in-game purchases, and earn Robux from visits to their games. DevEx or Developer Exchange allows them to transfer those Robux over to cash as long as it is over the amount of 100,000 Robux. Players must be accepted through a DevEx application, have a confirmed email address, have a premium membership, and be older than 13 years old to transfer. In some cases, players might also have to submit tax forms for the transferred funds.

Followers VS Friends

Roblox used a simple friends list that required players to send out friend requests to be accepted by the others. Now, there are two different lists of friends and followers.

As Roblox expands into a more in-depth community full of creators, players can follow certain users instead of friending them. If someone doesn't wish to have full benefits of a friend, such as chatting, full profile view, or game following abilities, they can allow others to follow them rather than become their friend. Players can truly make a reputation for themselves on Roblox now.

Screen Names

Robloxians used to be stuck with the usernames they selected when creating their account, but now Roblox has allowed users to display different screen names instead.

Veteran players no longer have to cringe at the sight of their old usernames, thanks to a new feature that allows them to choose display names. Display names will take the place of the username in most games and show on the player's profile. These names can be changed once every seven days, allowing players to explore different options consistently. Players can reveal their real first names, nicknames or come up with something more artistic.

Roblox Studio & Creations

Roblox has allowed its players to become even better creators with its expansive Roblox Studio that grants the players endless possibilities. The original 'place' studio, where veteran players may have created some of the best obby games, is no more, and is now an 'experience' creator. They can create even better and immersive experiences.

Roblox Studio is like a blank canvas waiting for artists to paint into a brilliant masterpiece. It has been revamped and updated extensively from the original Roblox and grants even more tools, scripting, and more for Players to create an experience truly. It is no wonder why Roblox Studio requires a whole separate download, because it's almost like a completely different game in itself.

Accessories

Custom-made content has made Roblox a bigger universe filled with endless possibilities for character creation. Veteran players may remember a time where there were simple hats, hair, and gear. But, there are seemingly endless accessories available for characters in the shop now.

Roblox has opened up many possibilities for players to create a unique and creative character. They can equip their character with head, face, waist, and the best back accessories. Characters can wear masks, have bags on their backs, or purses on their hips. Community Creations make the new accessories that much better as well.

Character Customization

Players might also remember when they had to buy body packages to change the shape of their character. These are still available, but Roblox has thrown in new features that expand the creative choices. These new features definitely make it one of the best character customizations in RPG gaming.

Characters can now be altered through sliders that adjust the height and scale of their bodies, making it so much easier for players to create a character that is true to their liking. They have to go to Avatar Editor, hover over 'body,' and select the scale button. Players can make their characters taller or shorter, thicker or thinner, and adjust proportions from this menu. If they want to further their character customization, they can get animations for their characters' actions, such as running, swimming, and climbing.

Trading

Trading is another great new feature in Roblox that allows players to give others items or switch items. Even some of the best roleplaying games on Roblox are big on trading, such as Adopt Me, where players can actually profit from trading valuable pets.

To make a trade with someone else, players must navigate to the player's profile, click the three little dots on the right side of the box and select the trade items button. It will reveal all items owned by both players that are allowed to be traded. The player can make an offer, either just two items or throw in a little Robux with it. The request is sent over to the other player, and they can either accept the trade or counter it with another offer until both parties are happy. This makes it much easier to give away items or Robux than the old 't-shirt' way.

No More Builder's Club

R0bloxians witnessed the exit of Builder's Club, the various rarities of memberships available to them on Roblox that guaranteed different benefits. Now there is only one premium membership that players can purchase.

Roblox is free to all players, but if they wanted a few extra bonuses for the game, they could up their free account with a membership that included daily allowance Robux, the ability to join more groups or create new groups, and to join restricted games. There were three different builder's club modes, each a little more expensive than the other with increased benefits. Roblox has done away with the three and now decided to stick with one premium membership, but with different amounts of Robux in the allowance for greater costs a month.
