The Book Of Boba Fett released its intriguing first teaser and provided fans with a brief but tantalizing glimpse into the upcoming Disney+ series, which arrives in late December. Among the biggest reveals in the teaser includes Boba Fett's surprising new approach to the next phase of his career in the criminal underworld a galaxy far, far away.

There are a number of new elements introduced in the teaser that is sure to add to the established lore of Star Wars. There are also a lot of familiar faces and beings, including direct callbacks to creatures and aliens from the original trilogy. Though brief, the trailer gives more than enough to chew on for fans waiting for the full series.

Boba Fett Is The Godfather Now

Perhaps the most surprising aspect of the new teaser is the unexpected tack Boba Fett takes as the ruler of Jabba The Hutt's criminal empire. In the teaser, Boba behaves more like the head of the Corleone family in The Godfather movies.

Boba's approach in his new role isn't outright violence, which would have been expected from the bounty hunter. Instead, the teaser features several scenes of Boba Fett speaking with and apparently negotiating with potential rivals and former allies of Jabba The Hutt.

He's Still Not Above Violence

Boba Fett is surrounded by assassins in The Book of Boba Fett.

Despite his stated preference that 'cooperation can make us all rich,' Boba Fett is still Boba Fett. That's clearly evident in a street scene where he and Fennec Shand are surrounded by numerous attackers. Boba Fett responds to them with the same animal ferocity he did against Imperial Stormtroopers, a scene that even Star Wars fans didn't see coming.

Boba Fett grabs one of the attackers and throws him down to the ground, and then brutally beats him with his own weapon, a staff similar to the gaffi stick Fett used against the Stormtroopers.

Fennec Shand Is His Enforcer

Fennec Shand holds a large rifle in The Book Of Boba Fett.

As indicated by the finale of season two of The Mandalorian, Fennec Shand is clearly Boba Fett's enforcer. Just as The Godfather featured numerous mob enforcers, Boba relies on the ruthless and extremely capable Fennec Shand to not only dish out violence, but explain the new reality to many opponents they encounter.

Fennec Shand takes on the red-clad attackers alongside Boba Fett and is always at his side throughout the trailer. She also speaks on his behalf when confronting a number of former captains of Jabba The Hutt.

Jabba's Palace Remains His Base Of Operations

A shot of Jabba's palace on tatooine in Return of the Jedi.

When Boba Fett killed Bib Fortuna in the post-credits scene of the season two finale of The Mandalorian, it wasn't just simple revenge. The teaser makes clear that Boba Fett has taken up Jabba's Palace as his new residence. This promises an opportunity to explore the iconic setting in more detail than it ever has been before in other movies and shows.

A new location with the palace appeared in the teaser. Boba Fett and Fennec Shand are seen in the parapet of one of the towers of the palace, perhaps considering their new and fragile empire.

A New Tatooine City

A new city appears on Tatooine in The Book of Boba Fett teaser.

There are many familiar locations in the teaser, but it also introduces a brand new city that appears to be on Tatooine. The massive city, larger than any other Tatooine location seen in Star Wars to this point, appears to be set within either a massive crater or canyon of some kind. The city could well be Anchorhead, which has been mentioned numerous times but not seen in live-action.

The city is evocative of Jedha in Rogue One, with dense dwellings and rocky cliff faces. It has a central tower rising above the city that appears far more modern than the other structures.

Crimson Dawn?

Fennec Shand fights guards with red shields in The Book of Boba Fett.

One of the most intriguing moments in the teaser introduces a group of armed attackers who confront Boba Fett and Fennec Shand. These guards are all dressed in red and use unique energy shields, also red in color. Could these attackers be associated with Crimson Dawn? Given Boba Fett's overtures in the criminal underworld, it's likely this group would be on his radar.

There's another reason it could be them. Bad blood exists between Boba Fett and Crimson Dawn, as seen in the recent War Of The Bounty Hunters comic book crossover. That could make The Book Of Boba Fett a live-action series Crimson Dawn leader Qi'ra could appear in.

Jabba's Captains

Jabba's captains speak with Boba Fett in The Book of Boba Fett.

Fans have met a wide variety of associates of Jabba The Hutt, like his majordomo Bib Fortuna. The teaser reveals a new layer of his criminal empire not seen on screen before. The captains of Jabba The Hutt, as Fennec Shand calls them, are likely all responsible for different aspects of the enterprise and have clearly survived the loss of their leader.

Among them are a number of familiar alien species from Star Wars lore. Trandoshans, Aqualish, and members of the Barada species all sit down with Boba Fett to discuss terms in the teaser.

B'omarr Monks

A B'omarr Monk skitters across the landscape in The Book of Boba Fett.

The new teaser opens with a delightful shot of a B'omarr monk skittering across the landscape of Tatooine outside Jabba's palace. This strange spider-like creature might seem new to younger fans, but many will recognize it from a brief moment in Return of the Jedi, where the monk stalked through the background of Jabba's palace.

The B'omarr monks are actually the original residents of Jabba's palace, once their monastery. The monks were once human but removed their brains and put them in the jars seen on the underbelly of the robotic spider.

Tusken Raiders

Tusken Raiders walk through the desert in The Book of Boba Fett.

Another extremely brief shot in the new teaser reveals the presence of Tusken Raiders. These natives of Tatooine have been a staple of Star Wars from the beginning, and their appearance in the teaser suggests some intriguing possibilities. While they could simply be part of the broader world on Tatooine, they could also be connected to Boba Fett personally.

The story of how Boba Fett escaped the Sarlacc Pit has yet to be told in live-action, and the Tusken Raiders could be connected to it, given that Fett used a gaffi stick in The Mandalorian. This scene could actually be a flashback to his rescue.

'His Menagerie'

The rancor in Jabba's dungeon in Return of the Jedi

Fennec Shand makes a threatening and intriguing reference to Jabba The Hutt's menagerie - specifically that Jabba would have fed enemies to it. The reference may actually be a big reveal. Fans know Jabba liked to feed insolent people like Luke Skywalker to the Rancor, but the Rancor was just one monster down in the dungeon.

Fennec Shand's use of the word 'menagerie' suggests that Jabba had other monsters he fed his enemies to, possibly even other rancor monsters that Boba Fett now has at his disposal in dealing with his many new enemies.
