The new Obi-Wan Kenobi series has proved to be one of the most anticipated pieces of Star Wars content ever, with fans having been rabid for more information since it was announced. Finally, a teaser trailer is here, and it introduces audiences to the overall feel of Obi-Wan's character at this time as well as to characters that will be joining the iconic Jedi.

The trailer does not give fans Darth Vader or even other theorized characters like Qui-Gon and Leia. Still, it does give little pieces of information, and big reveals that will likely be crucial in the first few episodes of the limited series.

Some Of The Cast & Their Characters

The Fifth Brother leads stormtroopers through Daiyu in Obi-Wan Kenobi trailer

Fans have always known that Obi-Wan, Uncle Ben, and Aunt Beru would see Ewan McGregor, Joel Edgerton, and Bonnie Piesse respectively reprising their roles. But, the teaser finally revealed some of the other characters and who will be playing them, with the show introducing many actors to Star Wars.

Rupert Friend will take up the role of the Grand Inquisitor, while two other Inquisitors (Reva and the Fifth Brother) will be getting played by Moses Ingram and Sung Kang. Fans also got a quick glimpse of Indira Varma, who appears to be playing an Imperial Officer. The other character whom fans catch a glimpse of is a droid known as 'NED' who could be voiced by Kumail Nanjiani, O'Shea Jackson Jr., or Benny Safdie (who may have appeared in the trailer getting confronted by Reva on Tatooine). The Grand Inquisitor also threatens someone in the trailer who looks eerily similar to Temura Morrison (AKA every single clone plus Boba Fett, with characters such as Cody capable of slotting right into this story).

John Williams

John Williams with the Obi-Wan Kenobi poster

As fans know, John Williams helped score Obi-Wan Kenobi and there are three notable pieces of his music in the trailer; 'Battle Of The Heroes,' 'Anakin's Dark Deeds,' and 'The Duel of the Fates.' However, hearing the latter does not mean fans should expect to see Obi-Wan and Maul interact.

As is detailed in Star Wars: Rebels, Maul does not know where Obi-Wan is, only finding out in the show (which is set a few years after this) that he is on Tatooine. The music may reveal nothing other than the return of John Williams and is simply there as an iconic piece of music related to Obi-Wan. However, the Anakin/Vader music indicates his return, and so Maul may make an appearance in the show, getting hunted by Inquisitors just as he is in Rebels. On the other hand, 'Duel of the Fates' could prove to be a vital part of the series with Maul nowhere in sight. Just as the Obi-Wan and his Master Qui-Gon had brilliantly dueled Maul to decide the fate of Anakin years prior, he could fight an Inquisitor to decide the fate and dictate the survival of Luke Skywalker.

Daiyu

Reva tracks Kenobi on Daiyu in the new Kenobi Series

Fans would be forgiven for thinking the new, underworld-esque planet showcased in the trailer was Coruscant. However, the planet is actually a new planet called Daiyu.

As detailed in the EW.com article about the show, "It's [Daiyu] got a graffiti-ridden nightlife, and is kind of edgy. It's just got a different lane and a different feeling." It is always interesting seeing new planets in Star Wars, and the trailer definitely makes going here an exciting prospect considering the number of great characters that migrate here over the course of the trailer.

Young Luke

Luke Skywalker plays on the Lars Homestead in Obi-Wan Kenobi.

One of the most emotional moments in the trailer is the reveal of young Luke. Fans have questioned for months whether or not he would have a role in the show, and clearly, he does.

Hopefully, his role is simply being watched on by Obi-Wan. The last thing theObi-Wan Kenobi series needs is the mistake of having constant interactions with young Luke. The trailer does show that Luke is Anakin's son though, having him pretend to podrace while wearing goggles eerily similar to those worn by Anakin in the Boonta Eve Classic.

The Cave

Obi-Wan sits in his cave in Obi-Wan Kenobi

As all fans know, Obi-Wan has his own hut on Tatooine. In this trailer, though, he appears to be residing in a cave. Whether this is his home, living in squalor like he feels that he deserves, or a home away from home, will become clear.

One of the interesting things about this cave is how it is similar to Mortis, on which Obi-Wan speaks with Qui-Gon Jinn, something that could very well be happening here - albeit not physical Qui-Gon Jinn as he never completed his training and could only utilize his voice after death. More likely, though, is that he resides here to watch over Luke while punishing himself for his shortcomings, feeling as though he deserves to live a life isolated, cold, and alone as he guards Luke from afar.

The Inquisitorius

The Grand Inquisitor in Obi-Wan Kenobi.

Even more so than Obi-Wan himself, this teaser focuses a lot on who appear to be the main villains of the series, the Inquisitorius, Jedi hunters trained by Darth Vader who track down and kill the remaining Jedi in the Galaxy following Order 66.

There are four in the trailer, two from Rebels - the Grand Inquisitor (whose design has gained some criticism) and the Fifth Brother - and two new Inquisitors - one unknown and the seemingly central antagonist Reva. It is awesome seeing these badass villains fully realized in live-action.

Nur

The Fortress Inquistorius in Star Wars Obi-Wan Kenobi.

Many fans will not recognize the planet on which Fortress Inquisitorius can be seen in the trailer, but players of Jedi: Fallen Order will be excited to see the live-action debut of the water Moon in the Mustafar system known as  Nur.

It is clear from seeing Nur in the trailer and the Inquisitorius talking within Fortress Inquisitorius that they will be deliberating about the capture of Jedi and likely will communicate with their higher-ups (Vader, Sidious, Tarkin, The Grand Inquisitor, etc.) for new targets such as Obi-Wan.

Obi-Wan Leaves Tatooine

Obi-Wan on the run from Inquisitorius on Daiyu in Obi-Wan Kenobi

One of the big questions going into Obi-Wan was will Obi-Wan leave Tatooine? The teaser trailer definitively told audiences yes, a risky move, but one that seems to be being made for the right reasons. He cannot simply leave the hugely important Tatooine for another planet just because it is a cesspool filled with the Galaxy's scummiest and most villainous people.

Obi-Wan should never leave Tatooine during that time between Revenge of the Sith and A New Hope without good reason, and his traveling to Daiyu seems to be to protect Luke - the perfect reason. Fans see that Obi-Wan will be getting hunted intensely while on Daiyu, even getting into an uncivilized blaster fight.

The Inquisitorius Get Close To Luke Without Even Realizing

Uncle Owen faces off with Reva in Obi-Wan Kenobi

One of the many fascinating elements of the trailer is the interaction of Reva with Uncle Owen. Without even realizing it, the Inquisitorius get so close to Luke Skywalker, the son of Darth Vader and future Jedi who will help take apart the Empire.

This idea of the Inquisitorius nearly finding Luke could very well lead to battles between them and Obi-Wan and will likely play a huge role in the tense dynamic between Owen and Obi-Wan, which is already firmly established in the comics and extended canon.

Obi-Wan's Voice Over

Obi-Wan Kenobi rides an eopie on Tatooine in the Kenobi streaming series.

Obi-Wan has some interesting voice-over in this teaser, not only intriguing in terms of showcasing how far the character has fallen and how truly terrible he feels as this broken Jedi, this broken human, but fascinating because of who he could be talking to.

It is unlikely he is speaking to the likes of Owen and Beru here, and the Inquisitorius can safely be ruled out. While there could be other characters yet to be revealed for Obi-Wan to be speaking to, the two best options appear to either be him narrating his journal entries (with Obi-Wan's journal being well established in canon) or him talking to Qui-Gon Jinn. This show is set ten years after Revenge of the Sith, and last year it was revealed in Skywalker: A Family At War that it took Obi-Wan ten years to figure out how to commune with Qui-Gon. That cannot be a coincidence.
