Screen Rant is thrilled to present a new behind-the-scenes clip from Big Shot season 2, in which star John Stamos lays out Westbrook's goals for the new year and what challenges the girls will face. Arriving on Disney+ on October 12, the new season sees many changes for Coach Marvyn Korn (Stamos) and the Westbrook Sirens. Last year saw the hot-tempered basketball coach taken down a peg, moving from college coaching to high school due to his own behavioral issues and growing from the experience.
Not only did his players help him learn some valuable lessons, clashes with colleagues such as Assistant Coach Holly (Glee's Jessalyn Gilsig) and Dean Sherilyn (Community's Yvette Nicole Brown) made him a better teacher overall and his daughter Emma (Sophia Mitri Schloss) helped him step up his fatherhood game. But Big Shot season 2 opens with Holly now working as Head Coach for a very different team, and the arrival of male students at Westbrook School turns everything topsy-turvy. Stamos breaks down just how much will go down, and how the characters might grow from it, in the new featurette below.
Screen Rant's exclusive clip from Big Shot season 2 opens with Coach Korn reminding the girls that this is their new journey, and he already has a new destination. Despite no team having previously won the Division II championship in their first year of qualifying, Korn is going to make sure the Westbrook Sirens are the first—no matter what obstacles are thrown their way. And if the featurette is any indication, there will be plenty of obstacles.
Big Shot Season 2 Brings The Boys In
One of the big hurdles to overcome in the new season of Big Shot is the introduction of boys' sports. After an incident forces Westbrook to become coed, proximity to male students creates a new set of problems the characters have never dealt with before. Of course, this opens the door to more romantic entanglements, but Stamos focuses more on inequality in the clip. The boys' team is shown getting better treatment and equipment than the girls' team, despite each side putting in the same amount of work. Of course, while Marvyn's righteous indignation over it may be gratifying to witness, Holly is tasked with bringing him down to Earth so he can deal with the problem more productively.
The presence of boys isn't the only problem, of course, as Big Shot also welcomes a new player in Ava (Sara Echeagaray). Though she is a prodigiously talented volleyball player, her immense attitude problem gets her kicked out of her team and lands her on Marvyn's instead. He may have gone out of his way to recruit her for her natural talents, but her behavior is more reminiscent of his in the early days—something that's not particularly great for morale. Fans will have the pleasure of seeing how tensions on and off the team play out, and whether the Sirens manage to take that D2 trophy, when season 2 premieres.
