The newest Big Rumble Boxing: Creed Champions gameplay footage offers a look at iconic characters like Rocky Balboa, Ivan Drago, and Apollo and Adonis Creed duking it out. Developed by Survios, the team behind 2018 VR title Creed: Rise to Glory, Big Rumble Boxing promises an arcade fighter filled with a roster of 20 characters from the Rocky and Creed films.

Over the last several decades, a slew of Rocky-branded fighters has hit the market, the first of which launched in 1983 as Rocky Super Action Boxing. Various developers rolled out five other licensed games in the nearly 40 years since then, and it's clear there still exists an appetite for such experiences. In truth, there's an appetite for boxing games in general, one that hasn't been satiated in quite a long while. Electronic Arts' last Fight Night endeavor, Fight Night Champion, landed in early 2011, its ongoing dormancy leaving a void that seems as though it won't soon be filled.

Survios recently deployed a brand-new gameplay trailer for Big Rumble Boxing: Creed Champions, a roughly 90-second glimpse at everything the fighter has on offer in terms of gameplay. Iconic competitors from the Rocky and Creed franchises appear in the teaser, including Rocky, Drago, Apollo Creed, and Adonis. According to details shared in the trailer, Big Rumble Boxing boasts a total of 13 competitive rings, multiple fighting styles, 20 Champion Careers, a training feature, and local PvP. As previously confirmed, the Survios-developed experience hits store shelves on September 3, with pre-orders already live across all platforms.

Will this serve as the boxing game, or even the Rocky game, that fans of the sport have patiently awaited for years on end? That much seems unlikely, thus far. However, it could very well prove a fun arcade title that brings about plenty of exciting thrills in its own right for players in search of a good time.

Rocky first entered the ring in 1976, followed by five sequels that released from 1979 to 2006. The beloved character seemed down for the count, but reemerged in 2015 as Sylvester Stallone co-starred alongside Michael B. Jordan in Creed. With a third Creed film set to land in theaters next year, it's hardly a surprise that interactive Rocky games are back in full swing.
