Despite receiving some middling reviews, Universal's Sing proved to be a huge success at the box office. One of the biggest reasons for its success is the A-list cast. Granted, children wouldn't really know who they are, but it's possible that parents saw the names on the bill and reluctantly dragged their children to see it in the hopes that the cast could keep them entertained for two hours.

Some are huge stars, some are big but not, you know, big. Either way, it's a spectacular cast that you've undoubtedly seen before. These are the other big movies that the cast of Sing are in.

Peter Serafinowicz

The Tick (2016) - Griffin Newman and Peter Serafinowicz

Serafinowicz doesn't have a major role in the film, as he voiced the gorilla gang leader Big Daddy. Serafinowicz doesn't have an enormous filmography, but he has still popped up in some popular movies. This first major role was in Shaun of the Dead, where he played the uptight roommate Pete.

But before that, he provided the voice of Darth Maul in The Phantom Menace! He has enjoyed more film success in recent years, playing Aldo in the Melissa McCarthy-led Spy, The Sommelier in John Wick: Chapter 2, and Garthan Saal in Guardians of the Galaxy. Surely you've seen at least one of those films!

Nick Kroll

Jake and Justine looking uncomfortable in Adult Beginners.

Kroll is now a megastar thanks primarily to Big Mouth. But when he voiced the dancing pig Gunter, he was just "that guy" from various supporting roles. At the time, you may have recognized him from his brief roles in movies like Get Him to the Greek, I Love You, Man, and Date Night.

2016 was a major turning point in his career - not only was there Sing, but he also voiced Douche in Sausage Party. Since then he has provided his voice for Captain Underpants, The Secret Life of Pets 2, and most recently The Addams Family.

Garth Jennings

Garth Jennings wrote and directed Sing, but he also provided the voice for Buster's assistant, the elderly iguana Miss Crawly. Garth doesn't have many live action roles, although he did make brief cameos in all three Cornetto films (Shaun of the Dead, Hot Fuzz, The World's End).

Turns out, Sing is quite the little Cornetto reunion! That said, Garth has mainly stuck to voice work. He was Frankie Mouse in The Hitchhiker's Guide to the Galaxy, Bean's son in Fantastic Mr. Fox, and Hamster in The Secret Life of Pets 2.

Jennifer Saunders

Playing sheep Nana Noodleman was Jennifer Saunders, a three-time BAFTA winner. She has two BAFTAs for her work on Absolutely Fabulous and was the recipient of the BAFTA Fellowship in 2009. Admittedly, her filmography is a little small.

You may recognize her and her voice from Muppet Treasure Island (where she played Mrs. Bluveridge), Shrek 2 (Fairy Godmother), and Minions (Elizabeth II). She is currently working with Kenneth Branagh on the crime thriller Death on the Nile.

Taron Egerton

Taron Egerton in Kingsman The Golden Circle

Voicing Johnny, Taron Egerton was fresh off the success of Kingsman: The Secret Service. This little movie proved to be a monumental hit and it effectively kickstarted Taron's career. The following two years saw him starring in Sing, Legend, and Eddie the Eagle.

Since then, Taron has become a bonafide A-list celebrity. In 2017 he starred in the Kingsman sequel, The Golden Circle. 2018 saw him playing the titular character in Robin Hood (granted, that wasn't very good!), and 2019 saw him putting in an Oscar-worthy performance as Elton John in Rocketman.

John C. Reilly

John C Reilly as Cal talking in Talladega Nights

John C. Reilly is an acclaimed actor, and he lent his signature drawling voice to the sheep Eddie Noodleman. Reilly can often be seen working with Paul Thomas Anderson, having starred in his movies Hard Eight, Boogie Nights, and Magnolia. He was also nominated for an Academy Award for his iconic work in Chicago.

However, it's not all serious with Reilly, as he has starred alongside Will Ferrell in Talladega Nights and Step Brothers. Add in some blockbuster work in movies like Kong: Skull Island and Guardians of the Galaxy and you can see that Reilly really does a little bit of everything!

Scarlett Johansson

Let's be honest, you know who Scarlett Johansson is! She took a break from the MCU to voice the porcupine punk rocker Ash, but then it was right back to it for Infinity War and Endgame. Her spin-off, titled Black Widow, is set to release in May 2020.

However, Johansson shouldn't just be known for her work as Black Widow. She is also an acclaimed dramatic actress, having earned praise for her serious work in movies like Ghost World, Lost in Translation, and Marriage Story. She really is on top of the world.

Seth MacFarlane

Seth MacFarlane and Adrianne Palicki in The Orville

Seth MacFarlane isn't really a movie star. He's earned his popularity through TV animation, heading and providing the voices for both Family Guy and American Dad! That said, he has still ventured into film (to moderate success). Even in film he primarily remains a voice actor, doing the voices for Ted in the Ted series, Johann Kraus in Hellboy II, and Mike in Sing.

McFarlane also made a brief cameo in Movie 43, played Max in Logan Lucky, and starred as Albert in A Million Days to Die in the West. He currently appears in the sci-fi television show, The Orville.

Reese Witherspoon

Reese Witherspoon in Wild

Playing Rosita is popular actress Reese Witherspoon, who is known for...well, a little bit of everything, really. She's done dramatic movies like Pleasantville, Mud, Inherent Vice, and Walk the Line. She's done goofy comedy roles and movies like Legally Blonde. She's done rom coms like Sweet Home Alabama and Just Like Heaven.

And heck, she's even done a Christmas movie! Really, she's one of the biggest actresses in the world. There's nothing she can't do!

Matthew McConaughey

Matthew McConaughey in Serenity 2019

Matthew McConaughey has what is probably the weirdest and most bizarre filmography in movie history. He blazed onto the scene in 1993 with his role in Dazed and Confused, but the 2000s proved to be a rough time for the acclaimed actor. It was here that he was relegated to goofy rom coms and B-movies like Sahara, Failure to Launch, The Wedding Planner, and How to Lose a Guy in 10 Days.

Luckily, someone seems to have smacked some sense into him, and Matthew has since starred in the likes of Interstellar, The Wolf of Wall Street, Mud (alongside Reese Witherspoon!), and Dallas Buyers Club. That's more like it!
