Longtime Big Brother fans know that winning a Head of Household competition can make or break a player's game. While the power does come with its benefits, such as getting the HOH room all to themselves, as well as many treats and a letter from home, it also comes with some consequences.

If winning the grueling competition was not draining enough, the HOH is then forced to nominate two houseguests for eviction. Choosing which houseguests the HOH wants to nominate typically shows which side of the house the individual is playing on. It can also put a lot of blood on the player's hands, which can come back to hurt them in the long run.

While many players have ultimately had successful HOH runs over the years, others have had dreadful weeks in power. Whether it be from a twist added to the competition or the wrong person winning the Power of Veto, these players' HOH reigns were some of the worst in the history of the show.

Season 14 – Willie Hantz

Big Brother season 14 consisted of a teams' twist involving former players as coaches. During week one, Willie won HOH, allowing his team to stay safe for the week. Willie ultimately had a power trip within the first few days inside the house. Throughout the week, Willie and his captain, Brittney Hayes, were constantly bickering back and forth. Willie then tried to convince his fellow newbies to turn against the returnees. However, this plan did not go over well amongst the houseguests. One day after his messy reign came to an end, Willie was removed from the show for physical violence.

Season 20 – Faysal 'Fessy' Shafaat

During week 8 of season 20, Faysal "Fessy" Shafaat won his first HOH. With the house being extremely divided, this win was huge for him and his alliance members. However, Fessy did not get someone from the other side out. Instead, JC Mounduix convinced him to target his own ally, Scottie Salton. Scottie's eviction backfired in Fessy's face when he was evicted the following week.

Season 19 – Cody Nickson

America's Favorite Houseguest of season 19, Cody Nickson, had an unfortunate first Head of Household run. While Cody won the first competition upon entering the Big Brother house, he did not have an easy first reign in power. For reasons out of his control, Cody had to nominate five different houseguests throughout the course of just one week. This ultimately put a huge target on Cody's back for the rest of his time inside the house.

Season 16 – Devin Shepherd

In season 16, Devin Shepherd was the mastermind behind the large alliance, "The Bomb Squad." He took control of power in week 2 after winning the HOH competition. Then, after spending days forming the alliance, Devin nominated one of his alliance members, Zach Rance, as a replacement nominee. This caused Zach to expose "The Bomb Squad" to the entire house. Devin was evicted the following week with an 11-0 vote.

Season 23 – Brandon 'Frenchie' French

One of the worst HOH reigns in the history of the show comes from the current season. Brandon "Frenchie" French was the first houseguest to win power this summer. While the first HOH reign is typically smooth sailing, as the HOH tends to nominate two people who spoke to them the least, Frenchie's was quite different. His first week inside the house consisted of a downward spiraling power trip involving numerous lies. In short, Frenchie played the game way too hard way too fast. Needless to say, his HOH reign was quite chaotic.
