Big Brother 24 Head of Household Matt "Turner" Turner turned the house upside down with his blindside of Ameerah Jones at the Power of Veto ceremony, and his epic speech was the highlight of the night. Taylor Hale had been suffering in the Big Brother house from the beginning, with many of the other houseguests making her a target and directing microaggressions at her. Although they made Taylor out to be the villain, viewers of both the televised show and the live feeds saw what was really going on and were waiting for someone to take a stand.

After an enraged Daniel Durston attacked Taylor because of a misunderstanding between her and Nicole Layog, Turner and some of the other houseguests had enough. Nicole and Taylor are Festie Besties, and when Nicole was upset, Taylor told her not to push herself for her sake. Nicole believed Taylor was telling her to quit Big Brother. When Daniel and Nicole yelled at Taylor, and Daniel incorrectly blamed her for Paloma Aguilar's self-eviction, the other houseguests decided to come together and welcome Taylor into their group. This was one of the factors that led to the creation of the new seven-person alliance, The Leftovers, made up of Big Brother houseguests Taylor, Turner, Joseph Abdin, Kyle Capener, Monte Taylor, Brittany Hoopes, and Michael Bruner.

These seven contestants felt that they were excluded from the main alliances. Now, they have come together to shift the target away from Taylor and focus on targeting those who have dominated the Big Brother house so far, including Ameerah. When Turner replaced veto winners Michael and Brittany with Ameerah and her Festie Bestie Terrance Higgins, he made a speech that is sure to go down in Big Brother history as one of the best.

Turner's Speech

In a recent episode, Turner bravely took a stand when he made his Big Brother veto speech. He said, "I know this might come as a surprise to a lot of you. It was clearly one target this house had, but I don't feel like that's best for my game, and I really don't want to add to the dog pile I feel like is going on in this house. And I'm sorry about that. Behind closed doors a lot of you say some crazy things about individuals. And I really don't want to draw a line in the sand with saying this, but as the youngest one in this house, I don't feel like I should be the one to say that it's not okay. But here I am." Taylor burst into tears when Turner defended her and said in her Big Brother Diary Room session that she knew who was going on the block, but she did not know that he was going to stand up for what was right. Taylor added that she did not realize until that moment how much she needed someone to do that for her.

Turner Stood Up For Taylor

Turner's speech was epic for several reasons, but the most important aspect of it was that he stood up for Taylor and made it known it was not okay for people to bully her. Although it took a few weeks for someone to finally put her tormentors in their place, it was better late than never. Taylor can now play the Big Brother game, knowing that there are people who have her back. The personal attacks against Taylor by Daniel and Nicole were over-the-top and uncalled for, and Taylor should never have to endure that kind of abuse again.

Turner Challenged Daniel & Nicole

Turner mentioned he is the youngest Big Brother 24 houseguest. He is 23 years old, while Nicole is almost two decades older than him at 41 years old and is the second oldest in the house. As for Daniel, he is 35 years old. While Nicole was attacking Taylor, she told her that she needed to learn how to speak to people. Nicole even tried to use her age as a weapon as she viciously told Taylor, "I am a 41-year-old woman who makes my own decisions, and the last thing I need is for you to tell me that it's okay for me to quit." A shocked and crying Taylor apologized, but the other houseguests believed she did nothing wrong. By mentioning age, Turner was clearly calling out Nicole and Daniel as two of the older houseguests and letting them know that being older does not mean they are wiser or more mature.

Turner's speech marked a new day in the Big Brother house. It was bold, brave, and reminiscent of old-school Big Brother when houseguests were not afraid to challenge each other and a draw line in the sand. Turner not only did what was best for his game moving forward, but he also took a stand about what is right in real life. Daniel and Nicole's treatment of Taylor was inexcusable, and it was time for somebody to stand up for her. Turner's veto speech was epic and will surely be remembered for years to come.
