Popular Big Brother star Christie Murphy is engaged to her girlfriend, Jamie. Christie competed on the show during season 21 in 2019, which was one of Big Brother's more controversial seasons. Christie did not take home the half a million-dollar grand prize that summer. However, she did make it to the jury.
Christie ultimately came in sixth place after she was evicted during a live double eviction. Prior to her eviction, Christie, unfortunately, found herself on the block for five consecutive nominations. When she was finally evicted from the house, Christie was sitting on the block alongside her best ally, which she also knew from outside of the house, Tommy Bracco. The former Big Brother players are still very close friends today. The duo, along with a few other houseguests from Big Brother season 21, recently gathered together to watch the premiere of season 23.
On Sunday, August 22, 2021, Christie took to her Instagram story to announce that she and Jamie got engaged. The couple took a spontaneous trip to Paris over the weekend, during which Jamie surprised Christie with a romantic gesture. The two headed to the Eiffel Tower Sunday evening, where a romantic yet elaborate picnic set-up awaited their arrival. Christie showed off the amazing view and gorgeous setup on her story, writing, "Oh, my God." The picnic included a small tent, tons of sunflowers, champagne, snacks, and candles. While enjoying their picnic, Jamie pulled out a gorgeous diamond ring to ask Christie to marry her.
Not long after sharing the initial videos of the picnic set up, Christie returned to social media to announce the couple had gotten engaged. Christie gushed over the proposal as she showed off her new accessory. While Jamie hid from the camera, Christie couldn't put words together to describe how shocked and excited she was. The Eiffel Tower glistened behind the couple as they soaked in the moment. The following day, the newly engaged couple returned to social media to share their thoughts leading up to the moment. Jamie admitted that she thought Christie knew she was going to propose prior to the engagement. Christie typically wears numerous rings on her hands. However, on this particular day, she opted out of wearing her rings, which left Jamie feeling suspicious. Although Jamie was "convinced" Christie was onto her plan, that was not the case. Christie had simply taken them off prior to flying to Paris.
After Christie's time on Big Brother came to an end, she was offered an opportunity to compete on The Challenge. However, she was ultimately cut from the cast. In an interview on fellow Big Brother alum Nicole Anthony's podcast, Christie later admitted that had she gone to Iceland to film the show, she may not have met Jamie. The couple was introduced by a mutual friend and instantly had a connection. They quickly began dating and even moved in together in a home in New Jersey. Now, the couple is enjoying the rest of their stay in Paris before returning home to plan their dream wedding together.
