When Big Brother gets a chance to experiment and break away from the normal formula it usually follows, magic can happen. This is illustrated in the spin-off series Big Brother: Over the Top, a CBS All Access exclusive series that had all sorts of twists and turns that made it a super interesting side-series to the main show.

With that in mind, we're going to discuss 10 different twists that can be added to Big Brother: Over the Top to make it as over the top as possible. Let's get right into it.

Continue The Live Feeds Revealing All

In the first season of Over the Top, everything was aired on the live feeds. This includes competitions and, most interesting of all, Diary Room sessions. Letting fans see every single thing that went on in the house was an excellent formula for Over the Top. If a second season is pursued, this is something that absolutely has to continue on. Add it to the main series, while we're at it.

An Additional Challenge Or Two

In the main series, fans often dislike additional challenges and powers thrown in from week to week, but why not make it standard in Over the Top? The series is meant to be a different experience from the main series, so keeping things interesting with new weekly challenges is a great way to make things go over the top.

Secret Room Twist

Big Brother's Control Room

Throughout the years, several of the international versions of Big Brother have included secret rooms. These can do many things. They can give evicted players special powers, they can hide secrets for the players that are able to find them, there are plenty of different ways to utilize a secret room. Any way that Over the Top wants to implement a secret room would likely be a ton of fun.

New Veto Powers

Diamond Power of Veto

The Power of Veto is a staple in Big Brother, but there have been several versions introduced over the years that give additional benefits/powers to the holder. One of the most notable examples is the Diamond Power of Veto, which allows the holder to nominate the replacement nominee. Over the Top would be a great place for new, high-powered vetoes to enter the game and create havoc. It is called Over the Top, is it not?

A Better Camp Comeback

Three contestants looking off camera on Big Brother

Camp Comeback was a twist in Big Brother 21 that kept early evictees in the game for a few extra weeks. During this time, they were able to continue strategizing in the hopes of returning through a competition a few weeks later.

If Big Brother 21 had featured a different, less racist cast, then this might have been a great twist. Instead, the evictees were ostracized by many of their housemates. Let's try this twist again, it could have been something incredibly interesting.

More Pandora's Boxes

Pandora's Box was a twist that we saw occur fairly often in some of the earlier seasons of Big Brother. Pandora's Box was a door that the HOH could choose to open that would grant them either a curse or a reward, and usually, the opposite would befall the rest of the house. Pandora's Boxes were sometimes fun, and sometimes powerful. It's a perfect twist to bring back in Over the Top.

Triple Eviction

Daniele Donato Briones on Big Brother 22 All Stars thinking

The Triple Eviction just made its US debut this season of Big Brother, and it was one of the only moments of the season so far that has been interesting. In a Triple Eviction, three houseguests are evicted in a single episode, leading to all sorts of pandemonium, crazy gameplay decisions, and even some fights, if viewers are lucky. The Triple Eviction is about as over the top an episode of Big Brother can get, so let's see it happen again!

Weekly Twists

Big Brother's Halting Hex

Throwing new twists into the game week after week might not seem like a great time, but Over the Top is a great place for the producers to find a balance to make things feel interesting and not completely rigged. Make some weeks America's Choice votes, throw in some powers through competition wins, and make other weeks completely random. If used correctly, weekly twists can make the game less stagnant than it's been in the past few seasons of Big Brother.

A Sabetour

Big Brother's Saboteur

The saboteur's job in Big Brother is to throw the game into chaos. Cause panic, send shockwaves through the house, you know, things that would make the game... over the top? Not a bad idea, huh? This is a great way to spice up any game of Big Brother, especially Over the Top.

Diary Room Leaks

Janelle in the Diary Room

This would have to be handled incredibly carefully in order to make sure that the game isn't rigged, but what if certain segments of Diary Room sessions were "leaked" to the rest of the house one week? Every single houseguest would receive a leak of equal importance to cause absolute chaos and start some backstabbing. This couldn't likely happen due to the fact that the houseguests would never trust the Diary Room again, but it's a fun idea, nevertheless.
