Ian Terry has issued a public apology for calling David Alexander and Kevin Campbell "inferior players" on Big Brother 22: All-Stars and mixing up Bayleigh Dayton and Da'Vonne Rogers' names on the show. Last year, BB21 reached a new low for how many problematic statements can be made on the show. Women and people of color were constantly and directly targeted on that season, which insulted the fans and worried the producers. This year, the production team behind BB22 required all players to undergo sensitivity training while they were in sequester. Overall, the fans and the houseguests agreed that this step was very valuable to the show.

However, the Big Brother house has cameras and microphones placed in every direction, which means that the contestants are bound to reveal certain biases and prejudices, or simply put their feet in their mouths without meaning to be problematic. BB14 winner Ian Terry was one of the most sensitive and empathetic players on All-Stars. With that said, the fans were thrown off by certain remarks made by Ian. For one, Ian referred to David Alexander and Kevin Campbell as "inferior players." When campaigning to Daniele Donato to stay in the house, Ian threatened her with his jury vote by saying that he wouldn't vote for her to win unless she was up against Kevin, David, or Da'Vonne.

On Friday, October 30, Big Brother: All-Stars jury member Ian Terry took to social media to address these microaggressions that he made on the show. In a two-tweet thread (seen below), Ian acknowledged and apologized for calling David Alexander and Kevin Campbell "inferior players." He also apologized for telling Daniele Donato that he'd only vote for her to win in the Final 2 if she was up against David, Kevin, or Da'Vonne. Ian added, "Even if it was just an empty campaign threat, it's still rude and very bad optically." In the end, Ian also addressed the time when he mistakenly called Bayleigh Dayton by Da'Vonne Rogers. Bayleigh had just talked to Ian about how upsetting it was for the houseguests to see the only two Black female players on the show as an automatic pair, so Ian's name mix-up was particularly hurtful at that moment.

It is great that Ian Terry is taking accountability for certain things that he said while competing on BB22. On that note, the fans are still waiting for a few players to address their mocking of Ian on the show. Ian's autistic rocking was shamed and laughed at time and time again by certain contestants talking behind closed doors. Some of them were directly responsible for those comments, while others just laughed at the jokes and allowed this behavior to keep happening.

It is time for certain houseguests to take accountability for what they've said and done on Big Brother 22: All-Stars. Thankfully, Ian is setting the example of coming forward and owning up to his mistakes.
