Big Brother live-feed viewers caught Hannah Chaddah admitting she has a crush on fellow houseguest Derek Xiao; however, Hannah is not interested in being a part of a showmance this summer. Hannah and Derek, along with 14 other brand new houseguests, moved into the Big Brother house just last week. And already there has been a ton of drama, laughs and, of course, alliances formed.
Showmances play a big role on the show each summer. A showmance is when two houseguests begin dating while competing inside the house. Many times these relationships are formed not only due to the lack of contact to the outside world but also because of the amount of time these individuals are spending together each and every day. Typically, these two individuals also work together in the game. This can ultimately put a huge target on their backs. Sometimes being in a showmance can actually benefit your game, while other times it can destroy your game.
So far this summer, no showmances have been formed; however, it is still only the first week. Feelings are already starting to grow inside the house. Live-feed viewers captured a moment from late Tuesday night in which Hannah revealed she actually has a crush on Derek X. The Twitter account, @JokersBBUpdates, detailed the exact conversation. Hannah was seen whispering with Britini D'Angelo and Azah Awasum in one of the bedrooms. Hannah quietly says, "I do have a crush on Derek X, I must admit." She went on to confirm that Derek is aware of her crush. Hannah then clarified that being in a showmance is not a part of her gameplay. It is not what she left her real life to do this summer.
Prior to this confession, Hannah was explaining to her two fellow houseguests that the people inside the house with them "don't know [her]." Not only is she not looking to be in a showmance this summer, Hannah truly feels the guys in the house are not good enough for her. As Britini and Azah praised her, calling her a "queen," Hannah continued on to give explanations as to why she thinks this. She claimed that although Christian Birkenberger is two years older than her age wise, he acts like he is two years younger than her. Christian has already been accused of being in a showmance with Alyssa Lopez, so it is better for Hannah to just steer clear. As for Kyland Young, Hannah admitted he is nice; however, he is too old for her. The cameras then quickly cut the conversation, switching to Christian and Alyssa in a different room.
Although Hannah is claiming that she does not want to be in a showmance, there is still a lot of game left to play and lot of time left to spend inside the Big Brother house. Her initial perspective on the possible relationship could in fact change. Perhaps teaming up with Derek will actually benefit her game. There have been some successful showmances that competed alongside each other in past seasons. Hannah and Derek X. could be the next one to do so.
