Big Brother 23 runner-up Derek Frazier called Josh Martinez a "joke" on MTV's The Challenge, and the BB19 winner didn't waste any time before clapping back at him. There were three entire seasons of Big Brother separating Josh's journey on BB19 and Derek F.'s time on BB23. Josh is a Miami native and Derek F. is from Philadelphia, so there are also over a thousand miles between the two. Chances were that Derek F. and Josh wouldn't be interacting with each other right now.

Alas, both Josh and Derek F. are now working on their careers as reality TV stars, so it is expected that they'll interact on social media and make connections to each other. Like Josh, there are many former Big Brother contestants who go on to compete on other reality shows, most notably The Challenge. That list includes Fessy Shafaat, Kaycee Clark, Amber Borzotra, Da'Vonne Rogers, and Paul Calafiore. Now, Derek F. appears to have taken issue with Josh on The Challenge: Spies, Lies & Allies.

In the earliest hours of Tuesday, October 12, Derek F. tagged Josh in a tweet (seen below) and wrote, "Watching you on The Challenge is a joke. You've talked about me, but you are all talk [laughing emoji]. I would love to do a Hall Brawl against you." Like many other BB23 viewers, Josh has casually remarked on Derek F. not being good at competitions. For context, Derek F. didn't win a single competition on BB23. A few hours later, Josh replied to Derek F.'s tweet: "Lol Derek you talked about me all [season] and the fans would tag me [laughing emoji]. This attempt hasn't worked in the past, it won't get you cast, sorry. But wishing you all the best bro [winking emoji]." Josh's clap back implies that Derek F. wants to get cast in a future season of The Challenge.

It was pretty shocking for fans to witness this shady interaction between Josh and Derek F. given that they've never crossed paths and probably wouldn't meet anytime soon. However, Josh did make a few comments about Big Brother 23 just like many other alumni have done. Derek F. is also a big fan of reality TV, so it was expected that he'd catch up with Spies, Lies & Allies after leaving the BB23 house. With that said, Josh's suggestion that Derek F. is trying to stir up drama to get cast on The Challenge is a real surprise. There wasn't any online discourse about fans wanting to see Derek F. on The Challenge, nor was he bringing up the show in press interviews. Alas, Derek F. did challenge (pun intended) Josh to a Hall Brawl in his original tweet, so there's a chance that Josh knows exactly what Derek is doing here.

All things considered, this latest Big Brother drama felt like a completely avoidable situation. It seems like both Derek F. and Josh are taking what they said about each other to a personal level. As reality TV stars, they should know better by now that sometimes it's just not worth it to take the bait.
