It's time to review Derek Frazier's game on Big Brother 23 and examine the best moves and worst mistakes he's made in the competition. The son of legendary boxer Smokin' Joe, Derek F. walked into the BB23 house as a 29-year-old safety officer from Philadelphia, Pennsylvania. When Brandon Frenchie became the first Head of Household of the season, Derek F. was placed in the absolute best spot in the house. Not only was he in the Jokers team that was granted immunity that first week, but he also quickly became one of Frenchie's closest friends inside the house.

With Frenchie going home and the Jokers team members becoming the house's most convenient targets, certain players started to look at Derek F. as a viable pawn or perhaps even target. Despite his strong connection with the Cookout alliance, Derek F. was nominated four times throughout the rest of the season. Alas, Derek F. was never really considered a big threat who had to be evicted immediately, which he knew and used to his advantage.

Going into the Final 3, Derek F. had Final 2 deals with both Xavier Prather and Azah Awasum, which theoretically guarantees him a spot in the grand finale. Some fans still question his chances of getting votes from the jury, but getting second place is still a big achievement even if he doesn't win the first-place grand prize. On Wednesday night, the viewers will find out if Derek F. will indeed get to the very end.

Derek F.'s overall gameplay on Big Brother 23 has been about adapting to each new circumstance and dynamic in the game. He expertly attached himself to powerful players in the first few weeks of the game, and when the Cookout gained enough numbers to control the game, he fully attached himself to the alliance in order to be with the majority. Even though Derek F. wasn't throwing competitions, not winning any comps did shrink his target and did help him get further in the game. It was also very beneficial for Derek F. to cast the sole vote to evict Kyland in the Final 4 given that he was left in the house with two allies who committed to taking him to the Final 2.

Derek Frazier's Worst Mistakes On BB23

The biggest mistake that Derek F. made on BB23 is that he focused so much on just getting to the end that he never actually built up a winning track record for himself. Winning comps isn't everything on Big Brother, but it does help, and Derek F. didn't win any. Derek F. also failed to have direct agency throughout the season. He made a fuss about targeting Derek Xiao when the season started, but it didn't work. He also campaigned for the Cookout to turn on Tiffany Mitchell before the Final 6, but it didn't work. The reason why so many Cookout members wanted to take Derek F. very far into the game is that he just didn't build a winning resume on the show.

Derek F. has been guaranteed a Final 2 spot by Azah and Xavier. However, Big Brother fans have learned to expect the unexpected from this show. Last year, Cody Calafiore blindsided Nicole Franzel at the grand finale and took Enzo Palumbo to the end instead. We'll soon find out what happens to Derek F. on BB23.
