Big Brother Canada 9 contestant Ethan Quance has been disqualified from the show, and will be replaced by houseguest Kyle Moore on the season. The BBCAN series has recently placed a very large focus on having a diverse cast that includes different backgrounds, races, and sexual orientations. For 2021, the show put together what is arguably one of the most diverse casts in Big Brother history.

Since the Big Brother Canada season 9 cast was announced, claims emerged that Ethan Quance, a 22-year-old line cook from Banff, Alberta, had used racist and homophobic language in the past. There were also sexual assault allegations that came to the surface. Following this, there was a degree of uncertainty pertaining to what Global TV would do about these claims.

In a tweet (included below), Global TV stated that it has been made aware of the accusations against a particular Big Brother Canada 9 contestant announced this week. The network went on to acknowledge that these allegations "remain unproven," but also declared that the show "cannot proceed with casting this person." Consequently, Global TV announced that "this individual will be replaced ahead of the season premiere." Alongside this, Ethan Quance is no longer listed as a houseguest on the official website for Big Brother Canada season 9. He's already been replaced by Kyle Moore, a 26-year-old hockey coach from Red Deer, Alberta.

It is pretty unprecedented for a houseguest to be replaced on Big Brother before a season even begins. This doesn't usually happen on the show, so the fans are quite surprised at such a quick turnaround. Alas, it seems like this is for the best, as the BBCAN9 season would be plagued by these accusations if the network had decided to move forward with the casting of Ethan.

The fans are eagerly waiting for Big Brother Canada 9 to start on March 3, 2021. Hopefully, this will be the only huge controversy that the season has to face.

UPDATE: Since the allegations were made, they have been deleted from social media.
