Big Brother Canada 9 introduced a game-changing twist to the show: the 14 houseguests were split into two teams that will go against each other in all the competitions during this first phase of the season. Big Brother Canada has never had a proper split of houseguests into teams, aside from a few short-lived house divisions that ended rather quickly. But according to the explanation provided at the BBCAN9 premiere, the split of Team Destiny and Team Defender will last for a bit on the show this year.

The fans were starting to get worried about the unprecedented disqualification of a Big Brother Canada 9 houseguest before the season had even begun. However, host and executive producer Arisa Cox put everyone at ease as soon as she appeared on screen to introduce the viewers to an exciting and brand-new season of BBCAN. Alas, this is Big Brother after all, so it wasn't all just fun for the players. They had to immediately get into a competition where the winning team would be entirely safe from eviction, meaning that the losing teammates would be in danger.

One of the standout houseguests on the BBCAN9 cast had been Tina Thistle, and she did go on to receive the most votes by the public to lead Team Destiny on the show. When the time came for Tina to pick six players for her team despite the fact that she barely knew them, she decided to choose Victoria Woghiren, Tychon Carter-Newman, Kyle Moore, Beth Bieda, and Tera Gillen-Patrozzi, and Austin Dookwah. Thankfully, this team did very well at the premiere competition and managed to win immunity for all the teammates. Victoria was the last contestant standing, proving that she is a comp beast that others must watch out for.

In comparison to the other team on BBCAN9, Team Destiny seems to have a much more laidback energy overall. Tina doesn't come off - at least so far - as a loudmouth, and most of her teammates seem to be equally calm and willing to go with the flow. Alas, Victoria's infectious charisma and fierce personality read as someone who is very excited to be on the show and will do what it takes to win comps and get to the end.

Team Destiny certainly started on the right foot, but do they have what it takes to go all the way? Only time will tell if Tina made the right choices, or if this will hurt her own game over the course of the season.
