Big Brother 23 stars Alyssa Lopez and Christian Birkenberger have now officially confirmed their breakup, and Alyssa addressed the rumors that she might be dating Xavier Prather after the show. Alyssa came into the BB23 house as a 24-year-old swimwear designer and entrepreneur from Sarasota, FL. In turn, Christian was introduced as a 23-year-old general contractor assistant from Harwinton, CT. As the Team Captain of the Kings, Christian chose Alyssa as one of his teammates.
From the very start of Big Brother 23, it became evident that Christian and Alyssa were certainly developing some feelings for each other. Despite trying to keep a low profile and denying the existence of any showmance to the other competitors, Alyssa and Christian were constantly seen in the BB23 live feeds cuddling together and spending as much time as possible hanging out. Alas, Christian was evicted pre-jury, while Alyssa was sequestered in the jury house for weeks.
Despite various rumors that Alyssa and Christian would follow up on their showmance outside BB23, they joked several times in the post-season that they had already broken up. Now, Christian and Alyssa have issued an official statement regarding their breakup during an interview with Us Weekly. "We realized leaving the show that I have a career and he has to focus on his career, and we have barely any time to hang out with friends. So having a relationship just isn't something that we're able to do," Alyssa told the publication. Christian said that he and Alyssa are "best friends" who talk to each other every day, but they are indeed not dating. Alyssa and Christian also confirmed their breakup on their respective Instagram profiles.
Later in the interview, Alyssa was asked if she had any feelings for Xavier Prather. At one point inside the BB23 house, Xavier confessed to having a crush on Alyssa. "X. and I are just really, really good friends as well. I mean, when Christian left, I followed X. around, I was like his shadow," Alyssa responded. However, she made it beyond clear that she and Xavier are only friends and nothing else. With that said, Alyssa and Christian understand why fans have so many questions and want to know so many details about their personal lives. Alyssa explained, "People are wanting to dig into it because we're the ones that got in a showmance on a TV show." In any case, this Big Brother showmance is now officially over.
The fans will keep wanting to stay up to date with the Big Brother 23 players. Some might even hope that Christian and Alyssa can make amends and perhaps get back into a relationship one day. For now, though, one can confidently declare that this showmance has ended.
