The wait is over for fans as Big Brother 24 is about to premiere, and host Julie Chen Moonves revealed the theme of the season and teased an eviction night twist that could change the game from the very beginning. Until now, details about the season have been kept under wraps, but fans know that the premiere will be 90 minutes with a live move-in. The live feeds will begin on premiere night at 12:30 a.m. EDT/9:30 p.m. PDT.

Like the past two seasons, Big Brother 24 will not have a live audience, presumably due to COVID-19 protocols, but that might change as the season progresses. The cast will feature 16 all-new houseguests, with no returning cast members. The season will last for 82 days, culminating with the September 25 finale. The grand prize, which was increased to $750,000 in season 23, will remain the same.

In an interview with Us Weekly, Julie shared the theme for Big Brother 24 and teased a twist for the first live eviction of the season. She said, "We always say expect the unexpected, but this really is next-level like we've never done before. It's going to keep all of us on our toes, not just the houseguests but us viewers." Julie revealed that the theme of Big Brother 24 is "the BB fest." She said that every week throughout the summer, there will be different themes such as a music fest, a comedy fest and a Renaissance fest, but her personal favorite "is going to be the Zing Fest. It’s gonna be the funniest one at least." Julie said that she has not been to the Big Brother house yet because of COVID-19 protocols, but she knows that the theme is "retro" and "very Palm Springs, mid-century Palm Springs feel–neon lights. We’re calling it the 'BB Motel.'" She added that there are two major changes to the house this year: a tiki bar at the bridge upstairs outside the HOH suite and a gym that feels like a spin class with lots of bikes and a rowing machine.

Julie also teased that there will be brand-new challenges that fans have never seen before and that the "big headline" for Big Brother 24 is that the first live eviction night will be unlike any that the show has ever had. This is because "it may not be one of the people that you think that ends up getting bounced that night. These houseguests aren’t going to learn of this new twisted twist until that night. So your head is gonna be spinning this season." Julie confirmed that if a houseguest is on the block, it does not necessarily mean that they are going home. She stated that the twist will not be revealed on premiere night, but instead, the audience will get the details "probably earlier in the hour of live eviction night," and the houseguests will find out later in the episode. While Julie was unsure of exactly how long the twist will last, she said that she thinks it will happen for about the first half of Big Brother 24 because of the numbers. She went on to say, "There are so many twists and turns this season and challenges that are so much harder that you’re gonna have a hard time just figuring out how to survive in the house."

Big Brother 24 seems as though it will be an exciting season with new twists and turns that will keep things fresh for both the houseguests and the audience. Fans always love unpredictability, so new challenges and twists will be a welcome change for the show. Whatever happens this season, everyone should, as always, expect the unexpected.
