Big Brother revealed one of the most interesting twists in years for Big Brother 24: after two weeks of getting to know one another and two players gone, one self-evicted and another voted out, host Julie Chen shocked the remaining houseguest by announcing they would now be playing in pairs.

Called Festie Besties in honor of the “festival” theme of the season, a competition had them pair up. The Festie Besties win together, lose together, and get put on the block together. A lot of strategy was at play but some pairs seem like they have a better chance at survival than others.

Joe And Monte

Joe and Monte are in an alliance with Turner, which instantly made it unlikely that they would be put on the block from the get-go. With both men presumed to be strong in competitions, they double their odds of winning an HoH or Veto by being together. But they also double the appeal in putting them up on the block together as a guarantee to get one of the biggest physical threats out of the game.

With Joe having been so closely aligned with Pooch, and with his name having been considered as someone to send home before, he could end up bringing Monte down with him if the women get power.

Alyssa And Indy

Alyssa and Indy are both playing floater-like games, trying to work quietly in the background while making sure they don’t stir any pots and become friends with everyone. They are both loyal to the ladies, which means as long as someone in their alliance is in power, they won’t be put up.

While some players think the best strategy was to pair with someone they were not in an alliance with so if they are put up, that person goes home based on a numbers game alone, Alyssa and Indy might be onto something in protecting each other. Neither works as a pawn for the people they are working with. However, Indy’s negative reaction to being named a Have Not for the week along with people like Terrance speaking out about her attitude has put her on the radar, which means they might have attracted too much attention to themselves. It would be a shame given that one of the things to know about Big Brother 24 is that Indy is the first-ever Brazilian native to appear on the U.S. version of the show.

Terrance And Ameerah

Off the bat, the partnership wasn’t a chosen once since Ameerah had to choose between Terrance or one of her biggest allies, Jasmine. Meanwhile, Terrance was hoping she would not choose him so he would get automatic safety by being partnered with the newly crowned HoH, Turner.

While Ameerah has done well in competitions and is one of the most strategic players on the show, and Terrance is likeable, he might be considered an easy pawn. That means the house could potentially put them up for the sake of getting Terrance out and strengthening their numbers. Thus, while Ameerah will likely be safe, the Festie Bestie pair is probably not long for the game.

Taylor And Nicole

Nicole and Taylor are an interesting pair, two of the unique houseguests that stood out in the first episode of Big Brother 24. But with a target on Taylor’s back, it will take a big fight for them to push through. Nicole’s likability, however, is the perfect yin to Taylor’s yang, so the pairing could actually work out.

Nonetheless, with Taylor being nominated every week so far, and her being on the bottom of the totem pole for both the women and the men, it could mean the pair get nominated soon or are put up as replacements. This will break up the pair, but as a strategic and smart player, Nicole will find a way to survive.

Michael And Brittany

Brittany expressed in her diary room confessional that she did not want Michael to choose her since he was her actual bestie in the house and thus she didn’t want to be sitting next to him on the block. But he went ahead and picked her anyway. Unbeknownst to her, Michael is part of a larger alliance that he is more loyal to.

As a superfan of the show and competition beast, Michael is ranked as the most likely to win Big Brother, according to Reddit. Even though they were the first Festie Bestie team to be put on the block, they still have a good chance of surviving. Michael has already won two Vetos and if he makes it a third, he’ll pull them off. Even if he doesn’t, whoever wins may decide to take them down to send home a bigger target. So, despite sitting on the block, they will probably survive much longer together as the attention shifts to other pairs.

Turner And Jasmine

Turner and Jasmine – who had one of the highest number of Instagram followers of the Big Brother 24 cast when the game began, are the oddest couple, the final pairing put together by default only following Turner’s HoH win. Naturally, both are safe for the first week of the twist since Jasmine benefits from Turner’s power.

Both have shown that they can win competitions, and each has a strong alliance on a different side of the house. This, in many ways, makes them a power couple. When their reign is over, the guys’ alliance won’t put up Turner and the ladies’ alliance won’t put up Jasmine which means everyone will be looking in another direction. However, unless Jasmine’s foot heals in time to play in physical competitions, they are at a disadvantage for winning the next HoH if it’s a physical or endurance competition.

Daniel And Kyle

Two of the most likable guys in the game thus far, it’s unlikely that either side of the house will even consider putting them up. They both come across as genuine, fun guys. Everyone in the house, regardless of alliance, wants to be around them and neither has had his name come up as a potential target.

With Daniel being a superfan, he knows how to play strategically. And with Kyle both aligned with the guys and close with Alyssa, they can trade information back and forth to keep one another safe for a while. Plus, with both being physical threats in the game, they have a good chance of winning competitions to keep themselves safe and avoid any risk of being put up at all.
