Although Big Brother: All-Stars features players from twelve different seasons of Big Brother, the early events of the show's 22nd season have pushed Big Brother 10 to the forefront of fans' minds. After Big Brother 10 houseguest Keesha Smith was the first player evicted from All-Stars, Memphis Garrett won the second HoH competition of the summer. Memphis never won an HoH competition on Big Brother 10, yet still came up just short of the $500,000 grand prize. Now, as he finds early success this season, he may have to look back at his 2008 alliance with Big Brother legend Dan Gheesling if he wants to make it all the way to the end once more. Memphis and Dan called themselves the "Renegades" and dominated BB10. Here's what you need to know about one of the most successful alliances in BB history.

The Renegades formed during Week 4 in the Big Brother house. Memphis sat on the block next to Jessie Godderz. Dan had no real obligation to save Memphis, but America suddenly chose him as "America's Player" for the week, tasking him with flipping the vote to save Memphis. Dan rallied the troops and saved Memphis, forging their alliance in the flames of a Big Brother twist. The moment marked the first major flip of the season, resulting in a season-long power struggle between the Renegades and the rest of the house. Dan and Memphis maintained close relationships with Keesha, Libra, and Renny, as they waged war on Jerry, Ollie, Michelle, and April.

As BB Wiki points out, Dan and Memphis particularly excelled at flying under the radar throughout Big Brother 10, an especially accomplished feat considering the season was one of the most explosive in the show's history. Just about every episode featured a fight of some kind, yet Dan and Memphis managed to maintain their composure and avoid eviction, even when their opposition was in power. They even managed to hide in plain sight. For example, after winning his first HoH competition, Dan nominated Memphis to obscure their tight alliance. Their cool and calm approach proved divisive to their fellow houseguests, leading to some harsh words from Jerry, the oldest houseguest to ever play Big Brother. You can see for yourself what Jerry had to say in the YouTube video below:

Dan remains one of the most adored players in BB history. He ultimately defeated Memphis in a unanimous 7-0 vote. Dan went on to cement himself as an all-time great in BB14, while Memphis faded into relative obscurity. Now, as he makes his return to Big Brother this summer, he will have an opportunity to prove that he is every bit of the competitor that Dan is.

Of course, Dan's success hinged on his ability to remain calm, cool, and collected under any circumstances. Memphis has shown himself to be a bit of a hothead during his HoH reign, so he will need to take a deep breath and remember what made the Renegades great if he wants to win Big Brother: All-Stars.
