With 10 Emmy Awards and 46 nominations under its belt, The Big Bang Theory is known to be one of the biggest and most successful comedies on TV to date. As fans know, there are many reasons for its critical fame. The main characters worked well together, the storylines were great, and the writing was often borderline genius.

However, if there was one aspect of the show that goes unsung, it has to be the supporting characters, who stole the show with their gags and lines, so much so that fans wished they could have been promoted to series regular. But which supporting character would they say is their favorite?

Barry Kripke

John Ross Bowie as Barry Kripke in The Big Bang Theory

Barry was Sheldon's frenemy and a plasma physicist at Caltech who would often be seen trying to irritate the gang and relentlessly mocking Sheldon over his failures. Barry and Sheldon's constant feuding was always enjoyable to watch.

Personality-wise, Kripke wasn't a very nice person. He was creepy, sleazy, and very disrespectful. Any person who makes inappropriate remarks towards women and sends people unsolicited text messages isn't worth the time.

Stuart Bloom

While Stuart became a series regular in the show's last few seasons, he was actually a more likable character in the early stages. When the viewers first met Stuart, he was kind, funny, and quite charming. Although they only went on one date, Stuart was also seen to have great chemistry with Penny.

However, Stuart's character seemed to regress as the seasons went on. The show made him a lot more pitiful and pathetic. He could barely look after himself and had the main characters belittled him too often. While he did get his happy ending, it still would have been better if fans could see the old, witty Stuart emerge.

Leslie Winkle

Although Leslie Winkle was only on the show for a short period of time, she was involved in some memorable storylines. There was her romance with Leonard, and later with Howard, and her ongoing feud with Sheldon. She also provided fans with much entertainment during the Physics Bowl storyline and the paintball game.

However, there were a few elements that fans didn't like about her. She could be cold and extremely manipulative. Leslie was also seen to be very controlling and arrogant, too. The only redemptive thing fans could say about her was that she was a lot more mature by the end of the series.

Wil Wheaton

Although Wil Wheaton started as a minor antagonist in the beginning, viewers gradually came to love the guy. While he did irritate fans for unnecessarily teasing Sheldon, he ultimately proved to be a nice and genuine person. He even gave Sheldon a signed, mint-condition Wesley Crusher action figure.

Wheaton loaned a hand to Penny when she was having a crisis over her career and he also supported the gang by attending their weddings and helped them make a few celebrity connections.

Missy Cooper

While Missy Cooper only appeared in a handful of episodes, she did leave a good impression on the fans. She was funny, charming, and quite polite. She also got on great with the gang.

One element that viewers loved was her relationship with Sheldon. She may argue and fight with her brother but it was endearing to see how proud of him she was. One could see that Missy genuinely loved and cared for her family, which is why she was extremely likable.

Bert Kibbler

If someone asks fans what they thought of Bert Kibbler, there would hardly be a bad word uttered about him. Although his obsession with Amy was grating in the beginning, fans found him to be one of the kindest and most gentle people on the planet. His dry wit was also quite funny, too.

As time went on, one could see that Bert was lonely and just wanted to have friends. It was a little disheartening to see that he didn't recognize his self-worth and tried to win his ex back despite her only being interested in his money. To make matters worse, the gang didn't treat him the best when he did them numerous favors. He deserved better.

Beverly Hofstadter

While Beverly Hofstadter would probably be a nightmare in real life, she is quite entertaining to watch. Fans loved watching the dynamics between her and Leonard as well as her friendship with Sheldon.

Fans also thoroughly enjoyed watching Beverly's feud with Mary Cooper, particularly as the two continuously clashed over their different beliefs. It's a shame that Beverly didn't feature in more episodes because she really shook things up.

Zack Johnson

Most fans will also agree that the show wouldn't have been the same without Zack Johnson. Zack was Penny's former husband and the vice president of his father's company. Although the gang often ridiculed him for his lack of intelligence, Zack was a fairly reasonable nice guy.

He was always respectful and treated the group with kindness, even when they mocked him. Zack was also seen to admire Leonard and took a vivid interest in his work. It's just a shame that the group didn't like him much because there wasn't a bad bone in his body.

Mary Cooper

Fans will agree that Mary Cooper is one of the best and most likable secondary characters on the show. Although she only appeared in several episodes as a guest, fans really loved the chemistry she had with the group. She treated Leonard like he was her own, would give Penny advice when she was troubled, and would take care to ask what was going on in Raj and Howard's lives.

Most of all, fans loved watching the bond between Sheldon and Mary grow. Sheldon may be difficult and stubborn sometimes, but he would never disrespect his mother because she always looked out for him. The show really struck gold when they cast Laurie Metcalf in this role.

Debbie Wolowitz

Carol Ann Susi Mrs Wolowitz The Big Bang Theory

Although she never made a physical appearance on the show, Debbie Wolowitz's presence was still felt due to Carol Ann Susi's one-of-a-kind voice. While Howard likes to complain to his friends about his mother's overbearing and loud nature, one could see that he genuinely loved her.

It was also clear to see that the gang loved her too, particularly since she was always welcoming and treated them with kindness. Fans will never forget how she was the only one who helped Stuart get back on his feet. It shows how considerate and caring she was.
