She's got to be at least one of everyone's favorite characters, and this blonde bombshell has arguably changed the most over the course of the series. Yet, a character can't be all good, and Penny definitely has her downfalls. It's time to celebrate her best traits—and admit her worst.
Best: She's Hilarious
Penny definitely has a good sense of humor, and she's always there to laugh at good jokes and make some of her own. Sure, a lot of her humor relies on her sarcasm and wit, but that might just be why she's so funny.
She can take a joke, too, which is definitely part of being a hilarious character that fans love to laugh with—and at. Penny might be seen as the "dumb" one, but she's always there for a sarcastic one-liner or a hilarious side comment.
Worst: She's A Bit Selfish
Everyone has seen Penny do some incredibly selfless and caring things for those around her, but fans have also seen some moments where she gets a bit caught up in her own gain and self, and becomes a bit selfish.
From messing with Sheldon to guilting the guys to making Valentine's Day about her, Penny has shown some pretty selfish colors, and all fans can readily admit that she's a bit too self-serving at times—but, really, who isn't?
Best: Her Style
There's one thing everyone can agree upon when it comes to Penny, and it's that anyone would be lucky to steal even one outfit out of her closet. She rarely has a bad clothing day, and she's always looking absolutely perfect, from casual to cute to fancy.
This bombshell can always be counted on to be ready to go whenever, and basically for any occasion. Her wardrobe is one thing for which she definitely deserves endless applause.
Worst: She Can Be Superficial
Where there's a positive, there might just also be a negative. Penny might have great style and fashion sense, but, sometimes, she can also be a bit superficial. She cares a lot about looks, and might just be a bit too judgmental about it.
This is certainly something Penny works on throughout the series, but she is guilty of sometimes being a bit superficial towards herself, strangers, and even her friends.
Best: She's A Loving Partner
Penny and Leonard are definitely "that" sitcom couple of this series, and they're definitely a fun and wholesome pair. The nerd and the popular girl is a pretty cute tale, and, by the end, these two are nothing more than husband and wife.
Penny is funny and blunt in their relationship, but she's also totally romantic and all in. She cares deeply about Leonard, and this was the case far before they even got together. Her love is definitely one of her best traits.
Worst: She's Arrogant
Penny definitely has her moments of feeling down on herself, but, for the most part, it can be kind of clear that Penny thinks she's better than everyone else, even the friends in her group. Confidence is great, but, sometimes, she looks down on her friends.
She knows she can be more popular, prettier, and more funny, but this self-assuredness sometimes dips into arrogance. She certainly has her humbling moments, but Penny's arrogance can stand to be reined in a little bit.
Best: She's Ambitious
Penny never lets anyone get the best of her, and she's willing to strive for her goals regardless of how much struggle and failure she faces. Her acting career is definitely an example of this, but also when she switches over to be a pharmaceutical rep.
She does everything she can to make it work and be the best she can be, and she doesn't let anyone stop her from doing it. Her ambition and determination are totally admirable.
Worst: She's Overly Competitive
Competition can always be a good thing, and Penny's drive and ambition is definitely something to admire. Still, Penny, like many of her friends, can be a bit guilty of being too competitive, she has a tendency to take things too far.
She's not willing to lose easily, and, on occasion, this can create a bit more animosity and fights than it was ever worth. Sometimes, it's better to just cut your losses and find a compromise.
Best: She's The Glue
This might seem a bit cliché, but Penny really does keep the boys together, along with Amy and Bernadette. When it might seem like it's usually Leonard, Penny is definitely the glue that keeps this group one big happy family. She is close to everyone, and everyone feels like they can confide in her. Plus, she'd do literally anything for any of them, and all fans have seen her become the tough best friend when it really matters.
Worst: She Settles
This might be the case with her career, her lifestyle, and her relationships. Although Penny can be full of herself, she somehow also has a terrible habit of settling for less than she deserves. Fans have been through Penny's heartbreaks, from bad acting jobs to rude boyfriends. This is a bad trait because everyone knows she deserves better, and it's more than frustrating to watch her settle for less.
