After 12 seasons of The Big Bang Theory, there are bound to be episodes that fans don't necessarily like as much as others. Some episodes are monumental for the series while others appear to be filler episodes to get through a particular season.
Over on Reddit, fans have come together to share their list of episodes that they tend to skip whenever they pop on. Whether it's because of a cringeworthy storyline or a character choice by the actors, not every episode of TBBT was perfection according to these fans.
"The Gothowitz Deviation"
In "The Gothowitz Deviation," Howard and Raj decided to join a goth-themed night at a local bar. The only way to fit in was to dress as goths and wear fake tattoos. The duo did end up impressing two women but their schtick fell apart when the women found out their tattoos were fake.
Reddit's NucclearLavaLamp didn't think it was one of the worst Big Bang Theory episodes but did say, "I find it super annoying" while watching the episode. Thankfully, Raj and Howard gave up this fake lifestyle after this episode.
"The Agreement Dissection"
In "The Agreement Dissection," everyone is fed up with Leonard and Priya as a couple. With the couple lunging in apartment 4a, Sheldon gets out for some fresh air by joining Penny, Bernadette, and Amy for girls night.
The following day, Sheldon puts Leonard and Priya's relationship to the test by warning them that he's going to tell her parents about their love. Priya interferes with his plan because she didn't want her parents finding out about her relationship. Like Sheldon, TrishLovesDolphins also loathed Priya and Leonard, saying, "I really hated that whole storyline. The second she refused to introduce him to her parents as her boyfriend, he should have dumped her and not looked back."
"The Skank Reflex Analysis"
In season 5's "The Skank Reflex Analysis," Penny and Raj deal with the aftermath of their actions. In the previous episode, Penny and Raj woke up naked in bed together, shocked at what happened.
When everyone found out about their rendezvous, Penny questioned her life choices. And while there are plenty of fans who love Penny's spontaneity, Reddit's AngelaMartini skips this episode because of her actions. "I think Penny was beyond that as a character. It really bugs me for whatever reason," they said.
"The Guitarist Amplification"
When fans first met Penny, she was a social butterfly who was always going out with friends. As time went on, Penny's social life didn't make sense to fans anymore because she slowly stopped hanging out with anyone outside of her new friend group.
In "The Guitarist Amplification," Penny told Leonard about a friend of hers that was staying at her apartment for a few days. The two go into an argument over it because Leonard found it inappropriate for the two to be shacking up together. Because of their arguing, Sheldon ran away from home because he couldn't take it anymore. Likewise, a Redditor said that this episode was "hands down the worst TBBT episode ever...Sheldon acts like a 12-year-old the entire episode."
"The Boyfriend Complexity"
Leonard and Penny's relationship timeline was a bumpy one before they finally tied the knot. In "The Boyfriend Complexity," Penny didn't have the heart to tell her dad that she and Leonard broke up, so she pretended that they were still together (despite Leonard's ongoing feelings for her).
DoomKick told Reddit, "'The Boyfriend Complexity' was really boring and cringe in my opinion." The cringiness of it all came from Penny and Leonard's fake relationship and how involved Penny's dad was.
"The Terminator Decoupling"
Before Howard settled down with Bernadette, he and Raj often when scouring for women together, which came off as creepy.
One Redditor noted that this episode, in particular, was an "Utterly cringeworthy level of creepy," because Howard and Raj stalked actress Summer Glau on a train. Because of their cringeworthy actions, it is a Big Bang Theory episode that's hard to watch twice.
The Bakersfield Expedition
Zetta_Baron noted that "The Bakersfield Expedition" was "more painful to watch than funny." In the episode, Sheldon, Raj, Leonard, and Howard all dressed up as their favorite Star Trek characters for the Bakersfield Comic-Con.
Sadly, their car was stolen on their way and the group was stuck in the desert. Sheldon began questioning their dedication to the fandom, which also upset fans enough to skip it.
"The Application Deterioration"
In "The Application Deterioration," Howard, Sheldon, and Leonard are disturbed when they find out they can't place a patent on their gyroscope without the university owning 75% of it. They agree to split the 25% three ways by drawing up a contract on Sheldon's behalf.
Meanwhile, Bernadette doesn't think Howard should sign the contract blindly, and Raj is at his saddest while at girls night and wondering if he should get back together with Emily. A fan told Reddit, "Raj's storyline was just painfully absurd." They didn't like how the writers were "forcing" Emily back on the show when fans didn't connect with her.
"The Work Song Nanocluster"
While some fans view "The Work Song Nanocluster" as a great standalone Big Bang Theory episode that viewers can watch again and again, others disliked it.
In the episode, Penny decides to launch her own business called Penny Blossoms. They are hair clips that are handmade to look like flowers. Sheldon promised to help her make her business a success, but they couldn't do it alone. They needed help from Leonard, Howard, and Raj too. TaoTeChing81 "disliked the impossibility of it." They continued saying, "Within one day they created a website, sold over 2000 items, and got feedback?!". Because of the impossibility of it all, this episode is skipped.
"The Matrimonial Momentum"
While "The Matrimonial Momentum" was a monumental episode for Leonard and Penny, there are some fans who prefer skipping it.
AngelaMartini said that the episode "was so bad I almost quit watching entirely." This could be because Penny and Leonard eloped without telling anyone. Or it could be because Sheldon and Amy are dealing with the end of their relationship.
