Kaley Cuoco says she’s down for a Big Bang Theory reunion. The immensely popular CBS sitcom created by Chuck Lorre and Bill Prady ran for 12 seasons from 2007 to 2019, earning 46 Emmy nominations and winning 7, including 4 wins for Jim Parsons in the Outstanding Lead Actor in a Comedy Series category. The world of the show has since continued through the prequel series, Young Sheldon, which focuses on Parson’s character as a young boy.

In an era when the style and filming techniques of most sitcoms changed considerably, The Big Bang Theory remained loyal to the multi-camera, live studio audience ways of the past. That classic style brought the show continued success through the years, helping it remain one of the most-watched shows on television for years. Its legacy is still visible in the success of Young Sheldon, which was renewed earlier this year through its seventh season.

Any show with such a massive fan base is bound to accrue rumors of reunions, and former star, Kaley Cuoco, is all in if one should happen. Speaking recently with E! News, Cuoco said she’d be excited to return to reunite with her former costars somewhere down the line, should the right opportunity arise. "I would definitely be open to some sort of reunion show," Cuoco said. "I can't wait for the Friends one, and so I'm definitely open to doing one ourselves as well."

The Big Bang Theory cast

The Friends reunion Cuoco mentioned was originally intended to film in 2020, but delays caused by the Covid-19 pandemic pushed it to April of 2021. The special has no official release date as of now, but it will premiere eventually on HBO Max. Like the Fresh Prince of Bel-Air reunion that came to the streamer in 2020, the Friends special will be an unscripted event featuring the actors, rather than a new episode with them reprising their old roles.

Of course, even if a Big Bang Theory reunion happens eventually, it may not be for a long time. Cuoco herself has gone on to star in and executive produce HBO Max’s animated Harley Quinn show and the critically acclaimed comedy-drama, The Flight Attendant. The rest of her former costars have also moved on to new projects, such as Jim Parson’s starring role in the 2020 Netflix film, The Boys in the Band. Still, it sounds a proper reunion for The Big Bang Theory could become a reality one day.
