Mayim Bialik from The Big Bang Theory shares some of the insulting comments she has received. As a former child star, the actor has been in show business for decades, ever since she starred in Blossom. She took a break from acting, but eventually returned to join the CBS sitcom The Big Bang Theory.

Premiering in 2007, The Big Bang Theory was on the air for 12 seasons, most of which it spent as the #1 network comedy. Bialik played Amy Farrah-Fowler, supposedly the female version of Sheldon Cooper. She was brought at the end of season 3 and became a series regular moving forward. Eventually, the pair became an item and they stayed together throughout the next several years, ending with the couple getting married and winning the Nobel Prize in Physics. Ever since The Big Bang Theory ended in 2019, Bialik has shifted her focus tp other endeavors, starring in a new sitcom, Call Me Kat, and temporarily hosting Jeopardy! Despite her successful TV stint, she isn't immune to getting insulting comments.

During her podcast, Mayim Bialik's Breakdown, she discusses these things with guest Justin Long. The actor reveals that she often gets comments about her hosting Jeopardy!, as the public isn't holding back on whether they prefer her over her co-host, Ken Jennings. Bialik also opens up about people openly talking about her looks. Read her full quotes below:

[S]ometimes I get ‘We don’t prefer you to Ken...’ [People will tell you] exactly how they feel. Like, ‘I saw you in magazine. I was very confused. You looked pretty.’ I get that a lot.

Mayim Bialik on Jeopardy

It's no secret there has been a lot of commotion as to who might replace Alex Trebek permanently as the host of Jeopardy! The game show icon passed away in 2020, and since then, ABC has brought in a string of filler hosts. In the end, the job boiled down to Bialik and Jennings, who was once a player himself. Now, the pair take turns hosting the series, with seemingly no sign that the network will be picking one anytime soon. Considering how popular Jeopardy! is, not to mention how beloved Trebek was, fans are understandably invested in this saga, with both Jennings and Bialik having their respective supporters.

As for backhanded comments about her looks, it doesn't help that The Big Bang Theory created an image for her of a stereotypical nerdy female - the same way it did with all four male main cast members of the show. What makes this worse is the fact that the sitcom actually used this as a reference point for Amy's relationship with Penny, who was often sexualized in the series. In any case, the fact that Bialik is opening up about this is a great thing, as it allows her fans to know the negative side of being a well-known celebrity.
