The Big Bang Theory hypes up its upcoming return with a brand new trailer. In a shocking move by CBS, it was announced that the popular sitcom is wrapping up after 12 seasons despite the fact that it remains such a ratings powerhouse. In fact, just a few weeks before the announcement was made, the broadcasting station was having internal talks about green lighting another season. It hasn't been confirmed, but rumor has it that Jim Parsons (Sheldon) was no longer interested in returning for a 13th season despite him, alongside four of the other original cast members - Kaley Cuoco (Penny), Johnny Galecki (Leonard), Kunal Nayyar, (Raj) and Simon Helberg (Howard) - being offered $50 million each had they agreed to another two years of doing the show.
Since news of the show ending broke, some of the cast members have addressed the situation like Cuoco, Mayim Bialik (Amy) and Parsons. All of them promised fans that they're planning to go out with a huge bang with season 12 chock full of surprises. And now, fans finally have their first look at The Big Bang Theory's final season.
CBS released a teaser for the upcoming final season of The Big Bang Theory. Posted on the show's official Twitter, the 30-second video hypes the sitcom's upcoming return in the next couple of weeks and promises fans that it will be the biggest season of the show ever. Loyal viewers in the replies expressed their sadness over the series ending, but most of them are also excited to see what's in store for its final outing. Check out the video below:
The clip is a mixture of old and new footage, but the main takeaway is the first glimpse at Sheldon and Amy after their wedding that capped off season 11. From the looks of it, it seems like the two are off to their honeymoon and it's quite interesting that Sheldon doesn't seem to be so hell-bent in continuing their work considering their huge discovery just before they got married. However, while he looks like a very accommodating new husband, it's safe to say that the newlyweds' escapade won't be done without any sort of glitch and it will be curious how they will handle it knowing that they're now legally bonded together. Thanks to a tease in last season's Young Sheldon, fans know that the couple will eventually have kids so it's safe to say that they return home still happily together.
While Amy and Sheldon are away, fans are also looking forward to knowing how their friends are enjoying their time not having to deal with some of Sheldon's quirks, especially Penny and Leonard who live across the hall and are regularly involved in their neighbor's odd affairs. It's curious if those behind the show are planning anything huge for the Hofstadter's considering that their married life has been pretty uneventful the last few seasons.
The Big Bang Theory 12th and final season and Young Sheldon season 2 premiere September 24 on CBS.
