Raj's (Kunal Nayyar) engagement with Anu (Rati Gupta) was born out of his desperation but he's never been happier in his life and The Big Bang Theory should definitely end with them getting married. Over the last couple of years of the long-running CBS sitcom, seasons have been capped off or started off with either an engagement or some form of wedding. Seasons 9 and 10 featured Penny (Kaley Cuoco) and Leonard's (Johnny Galecki) separate wedding ceremonies, while the latter was also punctuated by Sheldon's surprising proposal to Amy, and a full season later, the two walked down the aisle with Mark Hamill officiating. So it's only fitting that The Big Bang Theory be wrapped up by marrying the only remaining bachelor.

Over the years, Raj has always been bullied over being more in touch with his feminine side and his close relationship with Howard (Simon Helberg) has been the butt of many jokes. The Big Bang Theory never really shied away in highlighting that, even after his best pal got married to Bernadette (Melissa Rauch) and had kids. He tried to become a ladies’ man, showering his ex-girlfriends with lavish gifts back when his parents were still financially supporting him. Sadly, no scheme worked for him. As he saw his peers get married one by one, Raj understandably became more desperate to find a partner leading him to ask his dad to set him up with someone.

Enter Anu in The Big Bang Theory season 12's "The Procreation Calculation". She's a successful concierge who is driven and no-nonsense. After an initial conflict with Raj during their first date due to their differing opinions regarding arranged marriage, things were eventually resolved when Anu took it upon herself to propose to Raj the usual way - down on one knee, sans engagement ring. Since then, the two have been having a grand time. Sure, Anu has only been in a few episodes and there are still a lot of things we don't know about her, but one thing is for sure: Raj has never been this happy in a romantic relationship and he doesn't have to lie about who he really is as a person.

Raj and Anu dressed on Halloween The Big Bang Theory

In the three episodes that Anu has appeared in The Big Bang Theory, Raj has been nothing but relaxed and happy. Typically at the start of his relationships, he creates a whole new persona, one that exudes masculinity, thinking that's what girls want. Back in season 6, he had to pretend to like hockey after a girl she was seeing called him "feminine." That changes with Anu, who didn’t ridicule Raj for dressing up as Supreme Court Justice Ruth Bader Ginsberg for Halloween in the most recent episode. At one point, Leonard asked him if he's sure he was OK with dressing in drag in front of his fiancée, which Raj confidently said wasn't going to be an issue - and it wasn't. In fact, she was even on board with the idea as she dressed up as the Constitution. Anu's and Raj's individual characteristics complement each other and that's a pretty good sign of a great marriage.

With fewer and fewer episodes before The Big Bang Theory officially ends, there are still a lot of things that can happen in the show. Throughout its more-than-a-decade run, it's no secret that Raj has always been treated like a supporting character despite the fact that he's one of the original series players. It might feel like people behind the show are cramming everything in the final season just to give him a long-overdue personal arc, but if there's a satisfying and efficient way to do this, introducing Raj to someone like Anu is a clever move. All this time, Raj has been forced to become more masculine but with Anu, he can truly be himself without being judged.
