Warning: This article contains spoilers for Better Call Saul season 6 episode 7.

Better Call Saul star Bob Odenkirk accidentally spoiled season 6's most shocking twist nearly a year ago. The series, which premiered on AMC in 2015, is a prequel to the networks' hit series Breaking Bad, which followed chemistry teacher turned meth kingpin Walter White (Bryan Cranston) for five seasons. Better Call Saul follows Jimmy McGill, played by Bob Odenkirk, in the days before he becomes the notorious crooked Breaking Bad attorney Saul Goodman. The series is currently airing its sixth and final season, two years after season 5 due to pandemic-related delays and the time needed for Odenkirk to recover from an on-set heart attack.

On May 23, 2022, Better Call Saul aired the midseason finale before season 6 picks up its second half on July 11. The episode, which was titled "Plan and Execution," followed Jimmy and Kim (Rhea Seehorn) as they continued their efforts to take down Howard Hamlin, played by Patrick Fabian. When Jimmy and Kim sabotage an important call for the Sandpiper case, Howard goes to their apartment to confront the pair. In a shocking turn of events, Lalo (Tony Dalton) arrives, revealing himself to be alive to Jimmy before shooting Howard unceremoniously in the head. This marks the tragic end of a character who had been in the main cast since the very first episode of Better Call Saul.

It turns out that, back in October 2021, while the series was being filmed, Odenkirk posted a photo with Fabian celebrating his performance on this episode. The picture, which he posted again on the day the episode aired, revealed some stage blood stuck in the actor's hair, ultimately spoiling his character's fate in the series as it is on the side of the head where the bullet presumably exits. When asked about the photo by a fan, Odenkirk admitted that "I screwed up. I did not know you could see a little bit of make up that told story… my bad." Check out both the original photo and the confession below:

What is especially interesting about this accidental spoiler is how well it went under the radar. While some fans speculated about the blood in the actor's hair, they assumed that Odenkirk wouldn't have posted the photo if it contained any genuine spoilers about the fate of Howard Hamlin. The fact that the photo was not removed from his feed seemed to support that theory. Indeed, if it had been removed, that would have tipped people off that there was something important hidden in the photo, so leaving it up allowed it to fly somewhat under the radar.

While some Better Call Saul fans may be disappointed that the spoiler was posted so long ago, others may merely be proud that they solved the clue accidentally posted on social media. The plot development still surprised the bulk of the viewing audience, so at the very least the show's social media team made the right call not to have the photo taken down. Hopefully, the star kept a tighter lid on his posts for the second half of the season, because fans are certainly going to be scouring his feed from now until the finale.
