The new Better Call Saul trailer has suggested that the final season of the show will explain a mystery that has been ongoing since Breaking Bad, revolving around Gustavo Fring and Walter White. Better Call Saul season 6 comes out on April 18th, with the trailer showcasing that a number of questions are set to be answered in what promises to be a nail-biting finale. However, the answer to one question, in particular, may give a lot of the people watching some closure on one of Breaking Bad's unanswered mysteries.
Better Call Saul season 5 ended with Saul Goodman and his wife Kim Wexler falling deeper into the drug cartel business, with Kim seemingly beginning to enjoy the situation Saul put her in, despite Saul's reluctance. In the meantime, Gustavo Fring had put a hit on Lalo Salamanca. However, Lalo managed to kill all but one of the assassins who was forced into reporting that Lalo had been successfully killed.
For a brief moment in the Better Call Saul season 6 trailer, it appears that someone is monitoring Gus Fring's house through a number of cameras. While it may initially be interpreted that someone is doing this without his knowledge and spying on him, in all likelihood this has probably been set up by Gus himself as a means of protection and safety. This may also serve to explain a mysterious scene surrounding Gus in Breaking Bad season 4, which seemed to suggest his house was under surveillance.
In Breaking Bad, season 4 episode 2 'Thirty-Eight Snub', Walter heads to Gus' house with the intention of murdering him. However, he loses his nerve when Tyrus Kitt, one of Gus' henchmen, phones Walter and tells him to "go home". During this episode, the audience is not told how Tyrus knew that Walter was there. But it seems Better Call Saul will finally explain this, with Gus' house being monitored seemingly providing a potential answer.
Better Call Saul and Bob Odenkirk had huge shoes to fill when it was announced as a spin-off to what is arguably one of the greatest shows of all time, and attention to small details such as this are testament to how well the series compares to Breaking Bad itself. Now in the final season of Better Call Saul, the writers have full scope to answer as many lingering questions as they can, which is sure to create a thoroughly engaging climax to the show.
