Bob Odenkirk confirms Better Call Saul season 6 starts filming in March. Better Call Saul is the spinoff prequel to the popular series Breaking Bad, and is created by Peter Gould and Vince Gilligan. Gilligan is also the creator of Breaking Bad and Gould wrote the episode of Odenkirk's first appearance as Saul Goodman in the Walter White crime drama. The prequel follows the journey of Saul Goodman who was previously known as Jimmy McGill, before he came the slimy criminal attorney fans know in the show's predecessor.

Better Call Saul was officially renewed for season 6 in January 2020, and since then it's had a long journey to get back in front of the cameras. Obviously, the ongoing coronavirus pandemic affected the show's production schedule. At one point, Better Call Saul season 6 was supposed to start shooting in September 2020, but then the plan changed to early 2021. Star Giancarlo Esposito indicated filming would commence in March, and that is reaffirmed by Odenkirk's latest comments.

Per Deadline, Odenkirk discloses that Better Call Saul will roll the cameras for the last time in March. The final season will have 13 episodes instead of its usual 10. Production was put on hold and the writers were given more time to plan for the season and particularly the Better Call Saul ending. Odenkirk also teases about the series finale stating that fans can expect the ending of the show to be highly intense, ramping up on the slower, steadier pace that the show has taken for the first five seasons.

The show is known for taking its time to film and air seasons with last season premiering almost six months after a five-month shoot. With that timetable, Better Call Saul is likely to premiere again in late 2021 or early 2022. The final season has a lot to answer for since season 5 ended on multiple cliffhangers including Kim Wexler swaying more towards the dark side with Jimmy and the rise of the war between Gus and Lalo Salamanca with Nacho Varga caught in the battle after turning on the latter.

One of the things about having a prequel is that audiences know where Jimmy McGill ultimately ends up, which is emphasized by the black-and-white flash-forwards that open each season. However there are a number of characters who do not appear in the future timeline of Breaking Bad such as Kim, Nacho, and Lalo, so it will be exhilarating for fans to find out what happened to them. And with paths starting cross, it is great to know that Better Call Saul is one step closer to providing answers and hopefully tie everything together.
